Apple Maps randomly throws up the below alert:

Ford Mustang Mach-E Why is Apple Maps Whining About My Battery Being Low? IMG_2324

Yet, when I look at my vehicle’s charge level in Apple Maps, it correctly shows it (in this case, 81%):

Is this just a goofy Apple bug that will (hopefully) be fixed in iOS 17?

I think it is a bug - it’s happened to me quite a few times on iOS 17 Beta. I’d report it using the feedback app! It’ll help ensure it’s more stable on release.

I’m running iOS 16.6, not the iOS 17 beta.

Oh I completely skipped past that part. I’m on Beta 6 of iOS 17 right now and it’s still happening. I have an update pending for Beta 7 so it could be fixed in that update.

Yeah I have had that pop up, it helped when I changed my active vehicle off the MME. I mainly drive an F-150 that while a hybrid, doesn't report battery level or anything, and I think when I drive it and CarPlay connects it freaks out if it's expecting a battery level but not getting one. In Apple Maps I just set it to "Different Car" instead of the MME and haven't had it return since doing that.

Sometimes that happens to me too. I chalk it up to a temporary communication issue of battery levels between the car and phone. Maybe this error is really the "I don't know what's going on" error message, or the fields are reporting null or 0 and thus "low power".

Certainly annoying, but unless I'm making a road trip where I know I need to make a charging station visit, I don't worry about it.

Yeah, that bug is the NSA snooping software that was installed on your phone interfering with Apple Maps. They're both trying to track you and the NSA software doesn't understand the EV charging status data and you get the weird message. Just wait for the NSA snooping software update and it'll be good to go.

At least that's what I read on the internet ? ?

You obviously need to switch to android and windows and leave that crap in the past. No one likes 20 year old, slightly rounded squares anymore.

Stuff happens.

Probably the same reason why Apple Maps will suddenly tell me the battery level might be incorrect while driving.

Jimrpa, not sure if you are aware but this is the fourth thread you’ve started on this topic. This one here and the three below:

https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/low-ev-battery-find-an-ev-charger-ios-15-3-1.15224/

https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...n-ev-charger-no-android-replies-please.19309/

https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/seriously-apple-stupid-low-ev-battery-notification.28716/

There are also a couple of other threads on this topic.

https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...low-ev-battery-notification-plus-a-bug.13191/

https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/apple-maps-low-ev-battery-notification.22131/

Back at the beginning of LAST year I posted on the first thread how to turn on/off persistent notifications in Maps and CarPlay. So if you don't want to be bothered, turn it off.

Settings > Notifications > Maps
"Time Sensitive Notifications" on/off
"Banner Style" Persistent or Temporary
"Show in CarPlay" on/off

Alternately, when the banner does show up on your phone's lock screen, just swipe left, and you can choose the same options as above.

This works in iOS 16, 17

Since this thread is here and there are other people using Apple Maps from CarPlay I am curious....
Am I the only one annoyed by how destination information is displayed when apple maps changes you from a ICE to an EV. I hate that they removed and don't allow me to add "Miles to Destination" It was replaced with battery % upon arrival. Which is as accurate as Ford's GOM. Forcing me back to Google.

This has been discussed many times here and Apple has been informed of this request. We are hoping they will add the info we want in the release of iOS 17 public when it comes out.
