Will Ford Update BlueCruise Before Spring Ends?

Development will stop entirely, if it hasn't already. Not only are they about to implement Google based Sync5, which I can bet my bottom dollar our car's will NOT be able to support, but the rumormill is that Tesla FSD may be licensed to Ford first. Something tells me that BlueCruise development may be on the chopping block anyways.

I don't think Sync 4 and BlueCruise development are quite dead yet. 2024s have the same systems, and the updated BC 1.4. Also, from what I read, Tesla said it would take at least 3 years (after a license agreement is signed) for an OEM to integrate FSD into their vehicles and with Ford sucking so much at software, I wouldn't put much faith in them getting it implemented in any timely fashion. If Ford does license it, I would say you are looking at 2028 at the earliest. It will be interesting to see if the 2025s actually move away from the current Sync system to Android Automotive or if Ford is going to Teslafy the entire software experience.

Even if it's not "dead", you most certainly won't see the "next generation". Not even the 2024s.

What really a bummer is I've been using it more lately because well, I'm lazy ? "Waaah, holding the steering wheel is so hard, waaahh" ?

I have it until May 2025 so naturally it will get updated 06/01/2025. Luckily, I use ACC much more but I will miss it when it is gone.

@bbulkow , this is what I had in mind. Legally, public companies do not have to share their long-term plans, but it helps to attract investors and build/keep trust.

It would be interesting to see how Chase handles this. I agree with you and we also renewed our BC in December knowing full well we might have the car after 02/2025 and from what I recall, the renewal never promised anything other than BC 1.0...

I'd say there is a better chance NEXT Spring or maybe never. Apparently they're having so many problems that they've decided to just forget about it.

Probably need us to buy the 1year BC extension to fund the coding efforts.

Really? I ordered my NACS adaptor on day ne of announcement. Can’t confirm order in any way and never received anything still…

It’s weird to me that ford can flash and test all the modules at the factory, yet it takes hours at the dealership or years ota to pass along an update that is already in the wild.

I guess I'm an eternal optimist because I think they might just officially start the BC 1.4 rollout before summer 3024 arrives. Only 19,999 more days (at most) until I find out if my optimism was warranted.

Whether they’re gonna put this on Ford’s responsibility list or not, you should be smart enough to figure out you might want to slow down if you see this ahead if you’re not looking, well, that’s another problem, but I don’t care how good the system is, you’ve got to use your Driving skills too

This article came out today in Ford Authority. NHTSA is now involved and certainly Ford can't release new BC until this investigation is over and they've fixed the problem and thoroughly tested it. It'll be months yet.

I am of the belief that you aren't on the latest version, because you have to go beyond FDRS to do it, as others have posted.

Many of us don't have 1.2 yet.

So I can confirm the 6.14 update was NOT included in all the FDRS updates since I just received it TODAY. I completed EVERY update available in FDRS last week. Who knows if this means I'm on latest Bluecruise or not, but I do have the slick new icons now.
