Would you consider a M3 as your second car?

If you’re set on an EV for your second car, then it would be nice to have a Tesla for road trips. Even when the supercharger network opens to all of us, the M3 is still gonna charge nearly twice as fast as a MME because it has a smaller battery (yet comparable range due to increased efficiency).

And dude, you gotta let the whole “personality” thing go!

Keeping one Tesla in the stable for road tripping, plus a much better looking MME for around town, seems like a great plan.

I think the Model 3 would be a fine vehicle for many people. Do you happen to drive in one pedal mode on your Mach-E? Does your wife?

One pedal mode is mandatory on all new Tesla models, something to keep in mind as this is a big thing not often brought up in many of the discussions on this vehicle.

Yeah, to me “M3” means BMW since that’s the car’s actual name and it’s been an automotive fixture for a long time. “Model 3” is the name of the car from Tesla. I always have to force my train of thought toward Tesla when I see “M3.” It’s the same kind of acronym misuse as “EA” vs. “EAP.” ?‍?

With regard to would I get a Tesla Model 3, the answer is no. I wrote it off of my long list a long time ago because of the lack of an IPC and it will stay off of the list until they either add one or allow an aftermarket HUD. ??

It's dependent on battery materials -- it get stricter each year. Tesla has likely already put in place the means to counter it. They've been very fast to take advantage of every opportunity. That line is most likely a selling tactic so they can keep sales numbers up. They don't want people waiting for the highland. They already know the variables. They'll use that right up until the end as a means of keeping exponential growth.

I am looking for a second BEV for my wife. I have been looking at all of the makes like the Bolt, Kona, ID4 and so on. The Bolt is the only one that qualifies for the full 7500 rebate but you can't find any with the better trim. Even if I could find one of the other comparable models they all price high. (but can't find much of anything in stock) I hadn't even considered a M3 as I have been a never again owner.(I had a M3 before my MME 3 years ago). But a standard range M3 is selling for 38k and when you take off the 7500 plus 2000 in NY and the 500 rebate from Tes it puts her in the car for less than 30k. Very compelling, but I have such a dislike of the personality behind the car I just don't know if I can do it. Would you?

If you leave personal opinions on ownership aside and just compare EV to EV, T car is unquestionably the best EV value.

Having driven one for several weeks, I can say you get used to it, but it's kinda like a hang nail - it just bugs you a bit all the time. That said, there are aftermarket displays you can get for the M3. (Do a quick search and you'll see there are bunches of them.) To be clear, I'm not advocating buying an M3.

She actually likes it's looks better than my mme. We don't agree on that one. A happy wife is a happy life soo I will probably put my feelings aside on this one. The dog will be happy too since she isn't allowed in my car and I never liked going places in the current beater car

At one point my wife drove a minivan. It served her well.

Not sure why people get hung up on the personality or beliefs or politics of employees (or CEOs) at any particular company. Focus on the products.

I can guarantee if we went around your house and looked at what you own, you would probably disagree with half of the beliefs of the people behind those products. And heck, probably a bunch of it is made in China, where you really won’t agree with the politics.

I would love a 2nd BEV but not at all because I need one. I love driving my MME but am so curious about driving other BEVs. I think I'd like something small like a Bolt (but not a bolt). Really wish all the tiny BEVs for sale in Europe were available here.

Actually, I think having an Aptera to tool around in would be fun too. Talk about turning heads lol ?. The Model 3 is so ubiquitous, it has more or less lost its appeal to me. However, if I really did need a 2nd car, given how cheap they are getting, I might have to consider it.

Just buy the best product at your price point.

I started to read the responses and immediately got confused as the only M3 I know of is BMW's M3. I was going to respond because my 2nd car is a 2015 BMW M4, which I owned since brand new (and has been trouble free). Thus if there is some EV model of M3 I would list the make too since most car people will automatically assume you are talking about a BMW. BTW, my answer to a BMW M3 would be yes as it still has some edge over the Mustang Mach E GT Performance Edition...

My thoughts are similar to yours. Even a BMW M2 could easily passes most of MMEs.

I would have bought a M3 the Tesla as a backup if we did not have to drive to another city 5-6 hours away for appointments.
