Yay! Parking Brake has failed again.

I had a parking brake fault (red box, service now) the very first weekend I had the car.
Now 8k miles later it's faulting again.

The dealer was supposed to call me back, but they have no appointments til the 18th. This is not a positive turn of events.

Has anyone else had this ? It still looks like I am the only one who has had this specific fault.

I had it and I saw another thread on here about it. So there are at least three of us on here.
Took it in and they reset and updated associated modules. A week later it came back. Diagnosed as a faulty sensor. Replaced and no issues since. Maybe 2000 miles ago.

Did you drive it in those two weeks?

(people will give me crap about this - but if it can't pass a state inspection no matter what the reason is, this should be immediately addressed since it's the second time in less than six months. One more time and we are 99% towards lemon law in this state)

So, my Mustang had a defective parking brake. The problem was that the parking brake only fully engaged if you pulled really hard on it. It was a stick, so leaving it in gear would have prevented the rest of the story but it was a new car and I was unfamiliar with it although I had driven a stick before.

Anyways, I got out of the car, and it took off on me a couple of seconds after getting out of it. Fortunately, it wasn't a steep decline, so I ran behind the car, caught it, pushed it back then realized, "you know, maybe I ought to open the door, get inside and check the parking brake".

Ford issued a recall a few months later but when you think back on things sometimes it's a wonder that I've made it as far as I have.

I had a 1968 Camaro that rolled across an entire strip mall (think huge one) in Texas when the parking brake failed. Didn't hit anything but a cart return at the end of a very very steep hill. I got so lucky.

Can you not call another dealer or ask to speak to the GM and push to get in? Also, I always see people throw lemon law around like it’s a cake walk, it’s a nightmare. It’s not like they fix the same thing 3 times, it happens again and they just take your keys and hand you a check. Most of the time you have to get a lawyer, they tell you to take it in yet again then it’s months of just processing. Nightmare.

Yes, I did. But in my case, the parking brake still worked just fine. The sensor was out of spec, but hadn't totally failed to the point it rendered the parking brake non-functional.
