yeah, i was referring to not having the image on there. I was guessing it was coming from the power of displaying all the pixels.
OK yeah, its still powered in this state. You can see it glowing, and then it goes into another mode, possibly when the video signal gets cut completely, you can hear the sound change at that time as well. Then the power gets cut to the screen and the sound goes away.

And like I said, in the car, you can't hear it even in quiet, unless you're trying to hear it.

How directional is the sound? I have a plasma TV that buzzes like that, but it's hung at eye level and can only be heard when standing. As soon as I sit on the couch, it vanishes because the sound is projected right over my head. Maybe the height of the driver (and therefore their ear position) plays a roll in how much they can hear it when in a normal driving position.

It doesn't seem to be directional. But, Like I said earlier, I have to put my head up close to the steering wheel to hear mine. Or if I sit completely still, and there is 0 other noise, I can almost make it out sitting normally in the drivers seat.

I hear it no matter how I move or tilt my head in the car. I will also say I am sitting with the seat all the way back.

Interesting. Maybe my decibel level is much softer than yours.

I have a real-time-analyzer (RTA) somewhere that will let me see the decibel levels... I’ll try to find it.
Keep in mind that in order to compare sound levels recordings have to be made at the same distance from the screen. Otherwise, comparing amplitudes is meaningless .... frequency content comparisons would still be meaningful.

My dealer said that he heard the buzzing noise in all three of the other Mach Es he has been able to sit in after I raised the issue. I really hope not all of them have it as I think it will be easier to convince Ford to have this issue fixed if only some Mach Es are doing it.

His statement suggested to me that he thought it might be within spec, but nothing definitive on my end in terms of a response from Ford.
What is the temperature? Did not here it with my test drive but it was 83.

That’s the issue for me. If I have to put my ear close to the steering wheel with dead silence to hear it, I don’t care. In most of the videos I’ve seen, I can only hear it when the phone is placed inches away - now maybe that’s just to compensate for the mic’s lack of sensitivity, but it’s really impossible to know whether the videos are replicating what I would hear sitting in the car. Add in the fact that people have different sensitivity to different frequencies, and the videos are almost meaningless.

A better indicator is how many people are complaining about this. So far it seems like several. We have an order tracker list of over 600 forum subscribers: would be interesting to track this and a few other common complaints by subscribers who have confirmed deliveries.

Premium AWD ER. No discernible noise. Built 1/9/21.
Can you go out to your car, get as quiet as possible, set your phone on the steering colum, turn the car off, and start recording?

Just curious if its there but not noticeable. In my video, it sounds WAY louder than the human ear can hear it.

It is hard to see how loud it is as you can put your volume really high from a video. While listening to my video on my phone, I’ll try to put it on the steering column, then play with the volume till it reach how I hear it in, then tell you guys, I have an Iphone 8 plus for reference and I take delivery tomorrow somewhere between

I could not hear the buzzz until I put my ear right up against the screen. My phone picked it up though.

It has been mid/high 60s here during the day. But I park outside under direct sun, so the cabin has been a bit warmer during the day when I first get in. In the evenings, it has been mid-50s when I have been inside my car.

@ChasingCoral I watched the videos in your Dead Low Voltage Battery thread. I am sorry you experienced that.

I couldn’t help noticing that in your video titled IMG 6669 that coil whine is coming loud and clear, and even further confirming it is from the Driver Display because it starts and stops as the Driver Display flashes on and off.

Are you able to hear it yourself when you are in your Mach-E? I know you are dealing with a bigger issue just now, but if someone from Ford engineering got in touch with you, would you please be able to ask them about the coil whine if the opportunity presented itself?
To be honest, no. I'm really not hearing the whine when I'm in the driver seat. I hear some background noise in the video but there I'm sticking the phone right up to the steering wheel. It hasn't been noticeable while sitting still in the car and certainly not while driving.
