I'm not questioning the design. The problem is that it's highly unlikely that the engineers were able to foresee all potential issues. In this case there technically wouldn't be a bug -- the software is doing what it should.This is all speculation. The design could be solid, but there with a bug in the implementation. So after they fix this issue, its possible that the 12v problem is "solved". We just don't know the engineering details.
I agree that the software fix may solve the current set of 12v problems. I don't agree that this will solve the 12v problem. The 12v is just a weak point that you design around and learn to live with.
This is probably marketing and aesthetic heresy, but I think all BEVs should come with a portable charger, easily accessible battery terminals, and a way to access both. LOL And I've never personally had a problem. I just know it's always a possibility so I make sure I replace the 12v battery regularly.
