Developers write very detailed release notes. The marketing types responsible for customer engagement are usually to blame for what gets published.
Yup, and the engineers write very detailed reports on what issues delay shipments. The marketing types say "here's 250 kWh to forget the car is late, don't ask questions."

I'm going to slightly push Ford to comply. ?

Ford probably doesn’t want to acknowledge the software was so buggy at first release by detailing the fixes. Suggest telling them you’ll keep the list secret by only publishing it on the premium members-only section of macheforum.

I’m not sure what’s funnier - the jokes or the folks who don’t get the jokes in this thread. Well it’s the jokes obvs, but the others are a close second.

Hey Ford -seriously thanks for OTA update, whatever it may be. Keep Em Coming!

What's your make?

I have a Genie.

It took me an hour and trying different methods but I got it to work and it's now perfect.

I had to hold the garage door remote button for 10 seconds. THEN I had to simultaneously hold the remote and Homelink button I wanted programmed. Then I had to hit the program button on the unit itself and then again simultaneously hold remote and Homelink buttons. Programmed.
That sounds like a good summary of the instructions from the Genie manual. MIne connected quickly and correctly and also works great.

I have learned that the first update temporarily adds a Ford logo to the front grill. Eventually, it will turn into a just bare silver oval.
I've got to say, that one is pretty clever. The old school "not a mustang" crowd will love it.

Nothing remotely close to the owners manual instructions. I will try your recommendation.

Hopefully the update will fix the garage door opener issue. Still cannot open my garage with my Mach E. Another little miracle.!!!!!
I was able to program one easily but not the other, both are Craftsman about 15 yrs old. I tried the suggestion of hitting the opener button repeatedly (rather than holding down steadily) until the homelink light flashed quickly, that did not work either. I did see a suggestion which worked - I held the opener button down steadily while holding the opener a half inch from the homelink buttons. That worked on the first try. For the first unit, I held the opener at least a foot from the homelink buttons.

Hope that helps you........

Here is what I have used to program HomeLink on my Volt, Sonata, 2018 Mustang and my Mach-E. I have never been able to use the remote to program it. I didn't use a second person I had plenty of time to get back to the car which I parked close to the garage door. My Genie is a 2006 model,

  1. For first time training, press and hold the two outer HomeLink® buttons, releasing only when the HomeLink indicator light begins to flash, which may take up to 20 seconds. (Do not perform this step when training the additional HomeLink buttons.)
  2. A second person may make the following steps quicker and easier. Use a ladder or other device. For the next steps. On the garage door motorhead, press and release the learn code button - the red LED will begin to blink.
  3. Get back into your vehicle and press the desired HomeLink button one time.
  4. Press the desired HomeLink button a second time.
  5. Press the HomeLink button a third time. You should see the garage door open/close. HomeLink programming is complete.

I have a LiftMaster. I must of tried 12 times to pair. It finally worked, but I still don't know what I did differently to make it work. But I'm not messing with it now!

By the way, my update arrived yesterday. I just noticed the icon on my screen. Once you select the update icon, the update folder/page opens with more details. Unfortunately, while driving you can't see anything. Time to try the garage opener procedures you all recommended.

the thing is, have you ever read app release notes on your phone? a vast majority of them read that way. the developers don't bother putting release notes in, or put in useless notes like what Ford did here, because the vast majority of people never look.

even on apps that do want to tell me what's changed by putting it in front of me when I launch them, a vast majority of the time, I just want to use the app, and I dismiss the info. "get out of my way I'm trying to start the car, stupid FordPass with this nonsense!"

now that said, I agree with what some have said that having a "real" list somewhere (the Ford Owner site seems like the right place to me) that someone interested in reading the info, on their own time, on demand, would be nice.
I only read release notes on something I really, really care about, and depend on, and have problems with that I'm anxiously awaiting a fix for. Very few phone apps meet that standard. But my Mach-E does. I can't say I've ever spent 16 months discussing a phone app daily like I have the Mach-E.
