Taycan is without question the best of the current vehicles for a road trip, assuming you don't need more room. However, the MME does a credible job. Of course what you really want is 400 miles of range and Taycan charging rates and more high power DC chargers. Right now things are serviceable but not ideal. Give it a few more years.

The range is more or less exactly what I'd expect given my experience and what I could see from his drive cycle. For all those complaining that the EPA numbers are not "real world", note that the EPA Highway number is about 15-20 miles less than this test indicates. So much for the 48 MPH average speed.

Mache is holding its own and the taycan is amazing.
This was a fun test video. I liked the bit where they got slowed down by a bunch of super cars driving under the speed limit.

Thanks for this comparison. I was thinking of the Mach-E, but then I asked myself, "why not just drop the extra hundred grand and go for the Taycan?" ;-)

yep, that's the point. the mache gives so much for a cheaper price. Ford fix the fast charging problems and your have a beast on your hands.

Looking forward to seeing his Bolt comparison, since my wife and I will definitely have to go the cheaper EV route when her lease is up in September. Basically something in the Bolt, Kona, Niro, or perhaps even ID4 price range if some lease deals pop up.

It will be what the EPA number indicate. Less range but not by a lot. For local driving the Bolt is a better choice IMO. If she has a freeway commute look at the EUV with supercruise. The only bad thing about it is that at speeds over 70 MPH it's noisy.

I think the Bolt has a very low charging speed, I remember 55kw max charge rate when I looked at it

Seeing you, Kyle and EV Dave YouTube road tripping in the Mach-E, it's good to see that if you ignore P&C the MME charges just fine.

If Ford can coax the DC charging a bit (~30mins to 80% and reduce the cliff) then we're really gonna be set, plus it'll make things easier on GT/PE owners since we'll be dealing with a range penalty.

Great video. The Taycan looks amazing but what stands out to me is how close the MME got for a fraction of the price.

Re the charging, I’m jealous of all these fast, new stations in Cali. The charging network is far less reliable here in Kansas.
