Wow even topped the M3, which means it must be significantly better than the MY in this test. I didn't realize the M3 had such woeful winter numbers compared to both the RWD and AWD MMEs.

They tested a 2020 M3 which was before the range addition and also heat pump, for a 2021 it would be considerably better I think

The Fords also don't have heat pumps and are CSUVs. Imagine a low profile electric "real" Mustang with a heat pump.

Bigger battery pack wins in this case.

And as previously mentioned, the 2021 Model with the heat pump is 15% more efficient than the 2018-2020 with the PTC heater. Tesla's range should improve when they release the next generation battery pack. Both the 3 and Y are using older tech.

Keep in mind, those figures were for the WINTER test. They just did the Summer test last week.

I kinda feel sorry for the ones at the bottom of the list. Seems like scooter ranges.

Sandy Munro has discussed the relative inefficiency of Ford's EV tech in the MME. These numbers demonstrate just how far off the pace they are compared to other vehicles. Only a handful are worse.

They aren't wrong though. The MME is way less efficient. Ford just threw a bigger battery in it to make up for it.

I bought the MME for a fun car to drive that I thought looked cool. If I wanted an efficient car, I'd have bought a Tesla. But I hate how the Tesla's look and the inside is too plain to me. I think Ford found a good balance. They weren't shooting to be the range king.

Weight will have a little to do with it, but I have a feeling aerodynamics is going to be a big part of it. There's a reason tesla's look the way they do. They choose efficiency over looks.

I wonder why they didn't test the Model S?
