Holy cow. I almost got taken for a fool with this ADM ridiculousness. I reserved an MME on Thursday, and just prior to putting down the deposit I asked if the cost on the Ford website was going to be the cost at the time of delivery (prior to taxes, title, etc.), and the finance guy told me that their dealership had a $5k markup due to the MME being in low stock and high demand. I asked him to explain that further because usually costs are put into place for something tangible. He couldn't. I wasn't happy, but I was THIRSTY for this Mach-E so I reserved it.

I promptly went home and got on this forum, where I found the spreadsheet of dealers without ADM per state. Found 5 within the MD, DE, VA area and the first one that I found assured me their dealership DOES NOT do dealer markups (just like the spreadsheet said). I recreated the same car with the sales rep over the phone who then emailed me the cost breakdown immediately. The cost was roughly $52k, which was a stark contrast from $59, 500 from the original dealership FOR THE SAME CAR.

Thank you for all of the information in this forum. You guys get major points for keeping the consumer informed and well equipped to sniff out the B.S. For anyone who lives in the DC, MD, VA area, Trevor at Sheehy Ford Gaithersburg, is AMAZING.

Congratulations! ??

welcome to the club!

The only comment I can make for others is get it in writing. The no ADM list is a good start but it’s also a snapshot in time, some of those listed might have changed their stance. Also some dealers are not adding ADM to reservations but are adding it to canceled orders that get added to stock.

Congratuations. Now the other important question: who's the dealer to avoid?

Thanks. Yes, a very LONG wait. Possibly up to a year. I will wait.... hope my current car holds on.

Agreed. When the dealership gave me the no ADM total in writing after taxes, tags and processing fee, I felt much better about the process. Now I'm waiting on the old dealership to cancel the order so my deposit can be returned.

Koons Ford in Falls Church, VA is the dealer with the $5k markup. They also had an $1895 shipping and handling fee. When I asked why that was, (since the MME order form already has a shipping fee), I was told by the finance guy that it was the dealership's shipping cost. I balked at that since there shouldn't be 2 shipping costs for ONE VEHICAL, and he removed it. So in reality the cost would have been $61,400 if they left it on. Plus VA has a $899 processing fee and MD has a $500 processing fee. So I also saved on that by switching dealers too. All the reps and managers at this location were very nice, however "nice" doesn't justify me paying an up price of 5-7k just because. On the MME online purchasing pays it say dealers may increase the price for car accessories. Dealer mark up due to high demand, and shipping costs are not accessories. This is bull.

The new dealership was Sheedy Ford in Gaithersburg, MD. The sales rep was VERY responsive and knowledgeable about the online buying process. I didn't even need to go in. He processed the new order over the phone and sent me the breakdown of the costs and docs to verify that the new order was correct. He explained the reason for each cost listed and there was no funny business.

I'll be adding this info to the No ADM spreadsheet. Hoping others see the sheet prior to going into a dealership.

Considering I had exactly the opposite experience with Koons Ford in Silver Spring (no ADM, accepted X-plan), I recommend you reach out to Koons corporate and let them know why you are now a Sheehy customer. It might help the next customer.

Wow really? I guess each individual dealership really is different. Great idea, I'll do that. Thanks!

Adding to the Mid-Atlantic mix... I test drove MME at Koons Annapolis, and the MME went to the top of the list. The RAV4 Prime (phev) had been top but are also hard to get and same day I test drove MME the Koons Toyota Annap was charging a 10K mark-up the Prime's b/c of the demand (esp out-of-state buyers- I was asked how local I was). Forget that. So, that was a big reason I checked with Bob Bell Ford in Glen Burnie, and purchased there (got lucky somehow), instead of going back to Koons Ford. To be fair, I didn't ask their price. Guilt by association.

I would clarify tho. When I was in the process of ordering my car. I went thru the ford website, selected my dealer and built the car. The build summary had two prices listed, one was MSRP, and the other was "dealer selling price". My particular dealer, and many others had the $5k markup listed there. Keep in mind this is the ford.com website. BUT, I spoke with the deaer personally and got a commitment for xplan and MSRP which is what I ultimately got. I'm lucky it only took 17 weeks to get the car.

OP in case no one has mentioned it, look to see if your dealer will accept xplan. Which gives about $700 off the msrp BUT also caps the doc fee to less than $100.

Here's the ford.com summary on the build showing "dealer selling price" Been a lot of controversy that ford would stop dealers from doing this. they arent.

Thanks for this. This is what the new dealership provided me.

Thanks for this. This is what the new deerskin provided me, a cost summary breakdown of what I ordered from the dealership, not Ford.

Now ask the dealer if they'll give you xplan. Easy way to qualify is buy the $35 membership to mustang club of america, you have to be a member for 90 days at time of purchase to get it.

Forgive me, I am on my phone posting and got the quote tags messed up.

The crazy thing is the first order I put in at the higher priced dealership, I looked at that cost summary on the Ford site and that dealership 5k mark up is NOT on there.... and this is the price prior to taxes, title & tags, and processing. Whereas the second dealership put all of the costs to take it home, out there.

Another thing about Koons Falls Church, they urged me to get the interior protection package and said that I needed to decide whether or not I wanted that at the time of making my reservation and could not add that later. That was so weird to me. I havent even bought the car yet but they wanted me to confirm that I wanted it right then and there. The 2nd dealership said I could add that later if I wanted it.
