Well, I did it! Gotta get to bed but have some great stuff to share in the next few days! My friends, I’m having fun to say the least!

Update: Took morning off PTO to assemble data, videos, pictures... long and arduous. But here are initial best splits / times of three runs. Not the best, but keep in mind only had ~70% battery charge, NOT in Unbridled Extend track mode, tire pressure may be high at 42psi, etc. Definitely probably will do better as soon as I get back on the track with some changes. Still pretty good 0-60(1ft roll) at 3.78 seconds (on road).

Track Splits:
1/4 mile: 12.657 sec @ 100.02mph
1000ft: 10.433 sec
1/8 mile: 8.03 sec @ 86.67 mph
330ft: 5.26 sec
60ft: 1.99 sec

Dragy in same run:
0-10 in 0.58
0-20 in 1.20
0-30 in 1.80
0-40 in 2.44
0-50 in 3.21
0-60 in 4.12
0-60(1ft) in 3.89

On road test 40 minutes later, I recorded a 3.78 0-60(1ft roll) and 192.13 distance, no squeal of front wheels. (again, all traction control on)

Notes:
  • Will publish more tonight/tomorrow
  • Full road safety measures on - this is NOT in track mode (ie. called Unbridled Extend), so all traction control, etc. are on. Next time will try with track mode turned on. Likely get better results.
  • First time on track, but think I did pretty well at launch hitting the last yellow/green.
  • Battery charged at only 72% at start of track tests --- traveled 50 miles to nearest charger 20 miles from track, charged to 80% then drove to track, result 72% at track
  • Tires - cold pressure are 39psi, warm was reporting 42psi
  • Top speed seems to be governed with little acceleration past 100mph, max got up to about 108mph without Unbridled Extend turned on.
  • Admittedly, driver/owner is heavy set - plus video & photo gear, mounts, +125lbs over std driver with no cargo
  • Track was heavily used for three days, I get in at very end and had the last two runs of the day. Temp 79 degrees.
Questions/Notes:
  1. How to charge near 100% at track in rural areas? Track owner and I chuckled when I asked if he had 240V outlet anywhere.
  2. Should tire pressure be lowered for test on drag strip? (if so, what pressure?)
  3. Front tire squeal due to front end rising at launch, creating lower traction, does it make sense to add weight to the front for more traction?
  4. In Unbridled Extend mode, if no traction control, is it best to keep the go pedal at max and spin the wheels? Or lighten up? That could take some trial and error.

Now you need to find someone with a Model Y Performance to do a drag race. This is all I'm excited to find out.

Welcome! ICE and EVs are different, yes, but the GT/PE is capable of low 12s and 110-114mph just based on physics. 4Xs trap 103.5mph and they’re down 140/200 hp/tq to the GTs.

OP won’t lift before the 1320 traps next time out ???.

Also, my next car is a ‘19-20 GT350, love them. Driven two of them but only for short tests drives. Made a few 8200rpm shifts though. Voodoo forever haha.
Love my GT350. Traded a 2011 GT500 with VMP blower for it. I was worried I would regret the lack of straight line performance, but the GT350 is better is every other possible way and just so much fun to drive! I think it has the best (read most engaging) transmission I have ever driven.

My wife is coming from a 2019 Mini Countryman S all4 to her Mach-e GT (whenever it arrives, we just ordered at the end of July - so expect sometime in Q1 2022). I have a feeling it will be a bit of an adjustment, but she will enjoy it!

Nice! Thanks for sharing. Very jealous! Some good tips in the comments on getting those times down too… can’t wait to (hopefully) see more in the future so I can live vicariously ?

Its a shame you can’t top off the charge before a launch. I’m presuming a balanced battery off the line would be beneficial. Does anyone have any knowledge on that? Does the BMS balance the cells every time you power up/down or only when you hit a desired charge level?

Ford better lift the review embargo soon or word is gonna get out that the GT can't do any better than a 100 mph trap.
Yep. Queue all of the “an Accord V-6 or 2.0T is faster than a Mach E GT….” If you understand that, you understand ?

Looks like at least 0-60 hits as advertised, I think Ford claims 3.5 after subtracting roll out of around .3.

performance may improve with updates as engineers learn how far they can confidently safely push the batteries

You’re looking at this all wrong… better for people to think you’re too slow than to think you’re too fast. ?‍♂

I am not aware that I pulled off on the pedal. I noticed it not accelerating as fast over 100mph. I was intent on keeping it solidly down through the 1/4 mile. I used Dragy and have summary below. I also can provide snapshots of the graphs.

Three runs on the track.
Four more on the road after. On road I was pulling off before 1/4 mile. One road had very good start, no front tire squeal, and best 0-60.

I'm guessing the Unbridled Extend release more speed at the top.

I would reiterate - That's my first time on track. I'm pretty sure I did solid, fast starts - as you can see in 60ft times, but as I noted, I felt a noticeable reduction in acceleration approaching 1/4 mile.

Great job, you're looking at it analytically and gathering data. Definitely something is off, maybe there's an issue with the programming but @Ford Motor Company should be aware there's a glitch with the software on the Mach E for sure, that's not right.

Congrats again on the beautiful car and for taking the time and energy to gather all this information to share!!

Looks like the GTPE is quite consistent in its performance which is neat to see. It's a tad disappointing that the acceleration is hampered for some reason which puts it behind the non-performance Model Y LR for the 1/4 mile (12.1s @ 114.8mph) but at least it beats the Tesla's 0-60 time of 4.1 seconds.

Something is wrong. That trap speed is lower than a non GT car. It should be 110-115 mph with a GT. It would be odd that not using unbridled causes that.

Check PlugShare and see if there are CCS or J-1772 chargers near the track. It will take a few hours to charge to 100% due to the cliff at 80%.

I don't think it was a matter of 0t60-3.5 lifting early. Looking at the speed from 1/8th to 1000 to 1/4 it's fairly flat from 1/8th to 1/4....and slow. Really slow. Ford better figure this out.

There's no way this is true based on what Ford has said about Unbridled Extend: "Unbridled Extend, a track- and closed-course-only take on Unbridled mode that balances power output for lap time consistency."

When you're drag racing you don't want "balanced" power for lap time consistency to extend the amount of time you can spend doing laps. You want ALL the power you can get for 12 seconds.

Regular Unbridled should put down the best 1/4 times and trap speeds, if that isn't the case then Ford screwed something up.
