Let me get this straight. You could've had a Mercedes AMG wagon or Audi rs6 Avant....

But you chose a 125k Tesla?

I can excuse some things, and I don't mean this as a direct insult, but paying over $70k for a Tesla is just stupid in my books. You could say paying $125k for a Tesla is ludicrous.
Did you see the numbers on those plaid things?
That’s ludicrous speed…..

Well, there is no Plaid X as yet to run numbers but the S Plaid does low 9s@150. If that is all you want then I’m sure an X Plaid will work.
Me, I’d get a nice 1-2 yr old AMG E63 S Wagon and let Eurocharged or RennTech hook me up with 800WHP/950WTQ for about $8-10K or so. Run high 9s at 140ish and drive it for 3-5 years. Put it back stock and sell it for more than I paid as ICE monsters disappear.

You're skipping a Mercedes or Audi for an overpriced, interior removed, panel gapped, $125k vehicle for a .5 second 0-60 increase?

Any car like a Mercedes wagon or rs6 Avant doing near 3.0 0-60 is going to pretty much snap your neck in half.

You all should watch the throttle house reviews of the plaid. They make a good point. 0-60 in 2 seconds is a party trick that gets old, and on top of that verges on painful. How often are you going to floor a car that fast? Maybe 1-2% of the time you're in the car?

How often are you required to enjoy actually being in the car? 100% of the time.

I'll take a .5 second loss any day to not pay $125k for a Tesla. The amount of better options at that price is ridiculous to even consider a Tesla.

Again, I don't mean to hurt feelings here, but to me personally I just think that's straight stupid.

100% agree. I’ve actually driven the Polestar 2 at the Austin location. It moves and the model with the Ohlins dampers /Brembos is the one to get. But, the range is very lackluster at 225-230, and, for me at 6’3ā€ the monstrous center console waterfall was actually a dealbreaker. Right leg had nowhere to rest comfortably. No joke.
The center console was also a deal breaker for me. I am 6'2", and it was really uncomfortable.

The GTPE will be even with a LR Y if it has the acceleration boost. It'll beat a normal LR Y.
A Long Range 3 with the acceleration boost will beat a GTPE. A stock LR 3 will be about even.
As it stands right now, you’re probably right.

As it was ā€œsupposed to beā€ the Y perf and GTPE should be a dead heat.

We shall see I guess.

Glad to hear I’m not the only one! My wife is 5’10ā€ and even she said it was pretty bad. And we’re not even ā€œwideā€ people, I’m only 215 and still athletic and she’s 145 and fit too. Like, wtf were the interior ergonomics engineers thinking? And aren’t the Scandinavians typically pretty tall anyway? ??ā€ā™‚

I didn't understand it. Apparently, some people don't spread their knees when sitting. I guess.

Frustrating design because I liked the car in many ways.

That was always the target.
Match the performance and beat it in looks and quality.

At least your SS sedan is faster than my SS sedan. ?

This is your view. ?
You know, the Holden Lions get you the extra 3-4 mph. But you gotta be ready for non stop questions, pics and chit chat with curious car people. I was not anticipating that at all. 100X what happened with the bowties in place.

I broke down and put in for the Model X Plaid. Went for the red multi coat paint, based on some other comments wary of Tesla paint quality. Seems like it offers the highest level of straight-line speed, family friendly capability (7 seats), range, and best infotainment experience. Delivery should be March or April of next year. Comes out to around $135k, with the autopilot.
Congrats! "straight line speed, family friendly, range, infotainment" - yup the plaid X checks all the boxes.

The plaid S is insane. A bone stock family sedan that runs the quarter mile in the low 9s seemed impossible just a couple of years ago. Like it or hate it, you gotta admit that Tesla has indeed advanced the state of the art there. All other manufacturers now have a new benchmark for horsepower and acceleration. It's a good thing for the industry in general.

Having said that, you didn't get the FSD option, right? That's some straight bs coming from Tesla. They've over promised and under delivered on that front for years. Remember the "3 months maybe, 6 months definitely" quote? That was back in 2017.

Always been a Ford guy (Explorer, RS, and Ranger Lariat) and wanted to get the Mach E, but the uncertainty around this issue was a deal breaker for me. Maybe they will sort it out and I'll eat my $250 deposit, but we shall see....
Dude.

Cancel that nonsense and get on the list for a Rivian. Use the 35k elsewhere.

Hmmm I was told something else. I was told it’s a deduction of your federal income taxes… so you need to earn enough to have 7500 withheld and then you pay no taxes for that fiscal year.
Or did I just say the same thing you did? Is not a 7500 credit like the EIC for example.
It is a "non-refundable" credit. So, if your income tax total is $7,500 or more, then you get to take the full $7,500 off of your tax bill.

If your tax bill is $5,000, your taxes go to zero, but there is no refund--you get the $5k credit and that is all.
