You answered your own question the interior is from a vehicle that costs $42k not one that costs near $70k. In comparison to similar vehicles in its price it doesn't even have heated rear seats that come on the model Y and polestar-2 and unlike euro version I don't even get the heated front screenNot remotely close at this price point?
Show me the list of performance crossover/SUVs with a nicer interior for less money.
Anything I can think of with a nicer interior costs more $$.
And remember the price point is starting at $42k (not including tax credit) for the interior.
I’m not saying it’s the best interior, just that the statement “not remotely close” seems inaccurate.
Now while performance derivative in ICE land do typically cost a lot more, a lot of that cost comes from the large number of mechanical changes, there is not a huge amount of mechanical changes to the GTPE while the 'upgrades' to the cabin of the GTPE do not go far enough to justify the price point, it even uses the same steering wheel
When in comes to interiors the design is irrelevant to material quality, the BMW x2 m35i is far cheaper yet has much better material quality, while not available on these shores
There are ford vehicle much lower down the price list that have more features and better quality finishing touches. The hard plastic that is used across the top of the dash in the mach-e has no place in a 42k car let alone one that costs 70k.
Is it a nice place to sit sure it is epically if you compare it to an ICE mustang or some eco box rattle can but they are very low bars, so I stand by my statement it is not remotely close to 70k nice.
