From an amp standpoint, the Ford Mobile charger would be fine to use on a 40A circuit (it only draws 32A, or 80% of max). However, you wouldn't (or shouldn't) be putting a 14-50 outlet on a 40A circuit because other devices/chargers would try to draw a full 40A which is too much for that breaker for extended charging times.Pardon if this shows my lack of electrical smarts - Don't we need 50amp to use the Ford mobile charger?
And if the amperage is higher than 30, can you still run the dryer off of it?
Get a 50A breaker and make sure your copper is rated at the right gauge to support a 50A circuit with 14-50 outlet.
The electrician will know all of this.
