personally I don’t think we need the increased tax credits. The EV horse has left the stable (no pun intended). The $$$ for charging infrastructure that was passed a few months ago is more important at this point I think.

Manchin’s ‘no’ vote on Build Back Better bill undercuts Biden’s climate agenda (msn.com)

With no new tax credits coming, what impacts, if any, on target dates for total sales of BEVs?
Mach-E is very likely unaffected until at least the start of 2023. Ford would need to sell about 50,000+ EVs in the USA between October 1, 2021 and June 30, 2022, for the phase out to start before 2023.

They currently have been selling about 7,500 Mach-Es per quarter in the USA.

Tesla was hoping for the rebates - so they have been raising their prices for the past 3-5 months so the sell price would be the same with the rebates. They have to be kicking themself about now. They may have to lower their sell price just to stay competitive with all of the EV's coming to market this year.

I don't think so. For some, Tesla has become a religion. They can raise their prices like they have because the demand is so far beyond what they can build right now that it is supported. I don't know when the Texas factory opens which will help with US supply. The German plant will help in both Europe and Asia as so many of the Shanghai production is being sent to Europe.

Agree with that. Tesla has a pretty long wait time for new cars, and they're adjusting their price more because of excess demand. A good position for them to be in, to be sure.

They are not the only ones, on all counts.

Fords tax credits will also to taken up by phev offerings such as the escape, the phev version of which being very delayed due to battery issues only went on sale in the fall right in the middle of chip shortage so very limited numbers this year, of course who knows how much demand there will be next year but as it qualifies for nearly the full tax credit many people not yet wanting to go full BEV may see it as a cheaper stepping stone

I sure hope so. I ordered my MME around the middle of November. It is the Premium AWD model. They said the delivery date would be around June/July.

Question- Is there anyone on this forum that thinks Ford could sell more than 200,000 before my delivery date?

You need to review how the quota works. It’s not like a switch flips off at 200,000.
