Aside from the ford pass application being plagued with issues, I’m now having the issue with my ford connected wall charger. I’ve been on the phone with tier 1 support and a technician from the charger manufacturer and they are stumped. I have attached an image of the issue but basically once my car hits the desired charge level (85%) the charger faults and wont work until I do a hard reboot. This is now a repeatable issue. Was working fine for the last 30 days and I double and triple checked all the wiring. Ford said they would have someone call me back, but with the other issues I have been having i haven’t received a call back yet. Very frustrating.

Hi there! Can you send us a PM with your VIN and Ford dealership information? I’d be happy to look into this on my end.

Do you have it on a GFCI breaker that's tripping? Has someone checked the breaker connections?

Unfortunately the Ford Connected Charge Station is not a very reliable product. Poor customer support as well. If you can't find anything wrong and you've gone through all their troubleshooting on the phone I think they need to send you a new one since yours is likely defective. You'll be much better taken care of if you buy a ChargePoint or Grizzl-E.

Breaker is perfectly fine, and I had a VERY good electrician install and look at it.

About 1500$ too late... LOL But if it get's to that point, and Ford cannot fix the issue, I'm going to have to bite that bullet. I want to give ford a fair shake at solving this issue first.

Maybe my situation belongs in another thread. But I did recently experience something close to this a little over a week ago. Everything was fine until I signed up for the Blue Oval charge network. After this I noticed my car stopped charging from home. Then, a warning on my app posted, explaining that my ER/AWD/ME could charge at EA/affiliated stations only (meaning no longer from home).

What's up with that?

I casually mentioned it to the dealer over the phone who reviewed records and recommended I bring it in right away....he showed me a couple of pages worth of faults and error codes with date stamp from that morning. For some reason my car was starting to experience some kind of cascading computer failure. He was amazed I was able to still drive it and explained that for some reason my car 'wasn't communicating with itself'. He then speculated that rodents got in there and chewed on something "...and that's not covered by warranty." (how nice)

I Checked with Charge point and confirmed my profile and payment info are current so the issue isn't on their end. Also checked the garage for droppings or other tell tale signs of rodents (none found).

Waiting to hear back from the dealer...

2/1/2022... Follow up: Happy to report issue was resolved. Looks like the car had issue with digesting the updates after being in sleep mode for a while. Dealership was very helpful.

UPDATE: I spoke with ford charge team support at the actual company that manufactures the charger and they said they have had nearly a dozen calls in the last month with the exact same issue. From further testing, the issue is isolated to pre-conditioning the charging and setting a specific charging level. If I charge to 100%, no issues. If I charge to 80% that is when it faults. The engineering team escalated this one further up, with about 3 different calls and troubleshooting it and trying different things. They believe the issue lies with the car software, not the charger itself. They said the orange light is a safety software fault that disconnects the charger from the car and it didn't like the connection to the vehicle. They also said, this issue was isolated to areas where the vehicles are being charged in cold weather (30 freedom units or less)

They said they are going to pass all this information on to their software team to see if an update or patch will fix this issue, but they said that it might be a while....

I wish I had better news or was able to get more info, but I'll try and update if/when I can.
