Thanks for sharing this! It actually makes me feel better that they know the exact modules that have the issue and know which cars they went into.

Hopefully the issue was this limited in scope and won't have other cars having issues down the road.

I received a letter in the mail from Ford for this exact recall for my GT (non-PE) today.

Looking at the list of VINs + Battery Module serial numbers, mine is not listed in red text.

So that's good news, at least. That makes me wonder what they'll do to double-check the battery, given that. Only one way to find out, I suppose!

"VIN numbers in RED have multiple Battery Modules that need to be replaced. "

Ah - so my car might need to have one (or more) module(s) replaced.

You will be getting at least one array changed. (Side by Side modules.)

This is good to know. I'm actually all right with this since they're being proactive and notified me with plenty of time to get it dealt with before an upcoming road trip.

I'm mildly concerned that I'll be the first Mach-E owner to have this work done at the dealership, but that concern won't stop me from letting the work be done. This is what warranties are for, after all!

And on the bright side you get new batteries which should, over time, provide benefit. (Assuming all goes well with the change out)

I received my CSP letter in the mail last week and I did contact my dealer last Thursday, 2/24. It was the first they had heard about it. I am supposed to call them back to scheduled the repair! I am a little more leery than GrayWolf about my car being the first, maybe only, one that they may be fixing!

Thanks a ton ChasingCoral for posting the detailed info; gives me much more confidence that the affected parts and service requirements are well documented.

The dealer that I reached out to originally tried to tell me that they were going to have to keep my car for 2 weeks for this repair. I wasn't excited about this since the Ford-covered car rental wasn't possible (they only cover up to $40/day and the only Enterprise car rental company nearby wouldn't go lower than $55/day).

Fortunately, when I took the car in, the diagnostic codes that would indicate a need to disable the car for 2 weeks were not present. Instead, the dealership is going to order the necessary equipment. The service advisor and technician both shared that the Thermal Interface Material (TIM) used is one that has an exceptionally short shelf life of only 30 days, so no one keeps it in stock. This is the cause of the 2-week delay because it takes that long for an order of the TIM to arrive, apparently.

TL;DR - Took my car in for this CSP and was able to bring it back home while the necessary parts are ordered to perform the maintenance on my Mach-E. The actual repair time frame is now 3-4 days, which is much better!

Thanks a ton for sharing, I will try to pass along this knowledge to my dealer service folks.

Tried requesting them to order parts and schedule repair accordingly, but only got :
"bring it in March 31st and we'll keep need to keep it for 10 to 14 days". No diagnostics performed despite my request for this or the 'door fault service required' message that started appearing since 3 days.

I hope this attitude is only due to lack of service knowledge of the MachE and not cultural at the dealership. Fingers crossed.

My VIN is not in red and my car is in the shop waiting for four battery module replacements. I know my car is the first and likely only one my dealership will be doing because there just aren't very many MMEs in my area ?

there's a mention of Roush in the write-up. I wonder if these lucky people will get a souped-up version of the car at the other end of things... maybe with no 5-second limit... ?

My car will be the first fixed by this dealership, as well. They didn't specify how many modules will be needed for my car.. I'm reassured because no matter what, our cars are still covered by the warranty no matter if we're first or not in line for the repair! :)

BTW - I see your Bolt EV -> MME swap.. I did the same thing!

I know that intellectually. Just seems like it might take a little extra time while they figure out the process as opposed toa dealership that has done a few.

My husband laughed so hard when we got the CSP letter. I was planning to keep my practical Bolt for a few more years but the battery recall restrictions were just too onerous. And now my replacement has a battery issue too. I did point out the biggest difference is Ford is fixing the problem immediately!
