It’s like paying for BlueCruise and getting it delivered and activated later. Who would do that? Oops..I'd NEVER buy a car on the promise of future parts to make it whole, not should any bank finance one in this condition.
Can you imagine having to sell it? (lost job, spouse dies, divorce, need a pick-up instead, move to an apartment with no chargers....)
That's nuts.
I saw this article yesterday and when I went to go back to read it, it vanished. I did see another chip related article that talked about Ford shipping cars with no chips to populate the dealer lots; these cars won't be sold without chips, it was only to make the lots not look empty; who knows. I ordered my Mach-E on 12/3/21 and don't know that I am so desperate that I would take a delivery, with no chip(s) with no available features.Read the news @ https://www.autonews.com/nada/ford-...hips-controlling-non-safety-critical-features
I don't have access to the full text. Does anyone know if autonews is legitimate? Do you think this will help the orders on chip hold?
I have grown to appreciate the kick to open feature also. Prior to getting this car I would have said that I would be fine without it and I want to believe that still but last weekend the Polestar store was trying to convince me to trade in my FE but right now the Polestar 2s are shipping without the kick to open feature. They say it will be installed later when the parts are available.I could do without the heated seats/steering wheel but I am addicted to the hands free tailgate!! I always kick to open!
I remember when Tesla did this with FSD.I remember when Tesla did this with the USB charging ports and we all laughed. Now it's our turn, I guess.
I used the heated seat and steering wheel last night! Under 60 and I’m a total wuss!Being in Florida, don't need heated seats (maybe AC seats like my Lexus). Surprisingly, according to the build sheet, I still got foot-activated lift gate and laminate front windows. Built 2/18. Arriving soon. We shall see if the BS (build sheet) is right!

Your chariot awaits.Lets go back to crank up windows, non-motorized seats, manual everything-possible.... lots less wire, hundreds fewer chips.
I DON'T WANT all the auto-everything, and the cost that comes with it. Yes, I want an electric motor drivetrain.... but I really DON'T WANT all the other stuff. I wish there was a base model that really was a stripped down, low weight, high performance vehicle.
I DON'T WANT auto lane centering, a zillion sensors, automatic emergency braking and steering....I'd much rather have manual everything, keep it simple, and have realistic expectation of non-'consumable' parts like freakin door handles lasting 20+years.
All the articles I read said explorer.I thought that was only for the Explorer?
If you have access to your window sticker, you’ll see that the laminate front windows and foot-activated liftgate are not listed. Your build sheet is reflective of the options that existed at the time of ordering the car. Those options have since changed.Being in Florida, don't need heated seats (maybe AC seats like my Lexus).
