Your observation is correct. Unfortunately, as presented by Ford, the $1,600 upgrade for the FE that you and Ford agreed to has been escalated by $2,000 to $3,600. Bottom line: the price of the vehicle was reduced by $1,000 and the price of the FE upgrade was increased by $2,000.

No FE prices increased at all. I may not be an economist or business major but $X - 1000 is not an increase. Yes, the price drop on the Premium is $3K. But the demand for the FE is/was high. Look how many folks here went positively apoplectic over the Mach Drop.

Look, I get it. If Ford dropping $3K off the Premium makes you want a Premium instead of an FE then go for it. No one will think any less of you. Everyone has their own situation to consider and decisions to make. Make the best decision for you.

Which will lead to the next social media event--the Mach Flop. Seriously, Ford really needs to execute better. They have just managed to turn a price drop into a disappointment for many of the earliest buyers.

I don't see it that way. I think 99.99% of people will see it as it is, a drop in price for something they already agreed to buy at a higher price. There will always be some malcontents who grown so loudly they make you wonder if the world is going to end.

Yep, this is what happens when you reshuffle prices like Ford just did. The domino effect.

I know some people are effectively saying "Don't re-evaluate your choice based on newly reshuffled pricing, just be happy you got any discount at all", but these are thousands of dollars we're talking about. For most people, the choice of model was very influenced by price, and wisely so. There's no reason that shouldn't still be the case after a price reshuffling.

It's great that prices came down, of course, but being reshuffled at the same time changes the relative valuation for some. And triggers a re-evaluation. Just like Mach Drop did for many.

Maybe the 2k increase to the FE package is due to some unannounced software feature exclusive to the FE. I’d hazard to guess (maybe hope) the Driver Assist software coming out next year will be included at not extra cost for FE’s. Just adding some additional speculation to the increase. In any case I’m still glad I have a FE reserved and that the price was reduced.
