I think you said it well. Acceleration is gonna be great in nearly any BEV compared to ICE. That's just the nature of electric motors.

But SUVs are what sells (or CUVs in this case), so Ford was smart to make it a CUV rather than a sports coupe (even though the coupe would be more aerodynamic and lighter and thus have even better acceleration).

In a choice between making a zippier sportscar or a CUV for the masses that sells way better, the latter is a no-brainer.

I’d be surprised if there isn’t an EV variant of the coupe planned for the next generation.
Farley has already hinted at one recently,
.....It also plans to offer more electric vehicles around the globe including a Transit van and F0150 pickups. There also are plans for an electric Mustang, as well as unspecified SUVs and Lincoln vehicles. Ford also plans to add more affordable vehicles to its lineup, although no details were given.
For reference: Jim Farley promises urgency...

And then there was also the Mustang Lithium Prototype

And I'm not sure all the Mach-E orderers bought it because it is an EV Mustang who would have otherwise bought a regular one if the Mach-E wasn't available.

I'm not a huge Mustang fan, but I love the Mustang Mach-E. My 14 yo likes the traditional one and I'll buy her that when she gets her license.
I am right there with you. I never had any sort of desire to purchase a Mustang. I have always preferred muscle cars over pony cars anyway. When I talk about the MME to friends and family.....I omit the "Mustang" prefix. To me it's a "Mach E". I would be 100% fine if the Mustang logo was removed and replaced with the Ford oval. The fact that Ford calls it a Mustang has absolutely zero effect on the desirability of the vehicle to me. In fact, it actually but me off a little bit......but I got over it pretty quick. :)

I like the Mustang Logo and would prefer that over the Ford Blue Oval. But other than that I entirely agree. Perhaps a Mach-e unique logo? :)

I like that it is styled as a Mustang, it’s part of the appeal. On the other hand, if it looked like something else, like an electric Bronco, I’d probably still be just as interested. Basically as long as it didn’t look like a conventional SUV.

But if people don’t consider the Model 3 and Model Y to be same car only with different body types (which they sort of are), I don’t really see how the MME and Mustang coupe can be considered the same - their differences are much more substantial.

This car is massive for Ford for the following reasons:
1) It seems to be the most expensive car you can buy from Ford (their average price per car sale would increase).
2) It ticks so many boxes that make it relevant and keeps Ford from falling behind as an old car company. It is an important part of a new phase of car development that all car companies are taking on.
3) I would have never purchased a Ford. I am a bit of a car snob (I have driven Porsches for the last 25 years only). If you told me 2 years ago I would get a Ford then I would have laughed at you. The mustang name has made it a more appealing purchase (almost like you aren't buying a Ford but buying from a new car company).
4) I read that people ordering this car are on average 10 years younger, which is always a good thing. You have the customer for longer if you keep them.
5) The use of Mustang meant they had to make it sporty. Thus they have made a more compelling car that will compete with Tesla and outperform other new EVS. If they had just made a run of the mill electric car I don't think it would have been as strong a product probably.

These are some of the reasons that using the Mustang name has been a great idea. People don't like change but in 20 years, they will all have to dive some form of electric Mustang or an antique ICE.

You are right - I would have not bought a traditional mustang - great car but not for me - the Mach E happened at the same time I was looking for an EV.
Same here. I've owned three Mustangs ('65, 66, '70 Mach 1), but would not have bought a 4th except ...it's a BEV SUV.

I’m not normally the Mustang demographic. I’ve had a few Mustang convertibles as rental cars and hated them with the top up (0 rear visibility), found them impractical to park (huge doors), and not super-useful. But they were sort of fun to drive. I used to own a Miata and really loved that car.
If Ford really does come through with some of the handling and performance characteristics they’ve been teasing (I’m not expecting a GT350, but I’m hoping for something noticeably “better”/“more fun” than my 2018 Escape Titanium), then, with all the technology, they will have almost hit my demographic (I’m still annoyed about the ventilated seats miss - the regular Mustang has them! I can’t believe they spent all that time figuring out where to put a purse and missed this!)

This one surprised me for the same reason (that the ICE vehicles have it)... I wonder if there was a reason like packaging that prevented it (in other words if it wasn't by choice per se).

I would think that the power drain on the battery is far higher than the drain using heated seats, thus having a severe impact on range along with increasing the cost of the vehicle.

I am not one for a mid-life crisis and therefore would have never bought an ICE Mustang. I burn diesel in the tractor but that is for maintenance, production, heat etc. It was all about green and driving again without the guilt of being apart of where we are going. It really does not hurt tho that the MME runs like it has a V8 under the hood; that I am use too. Mid-life crisis ON.

It is possible the pony is rubbing it in some peoples nose a bit. Kind of like that; back to trash talking humor. Times change and it is greener but more important it is faster; that will help change the market. 7 electric motors and 1400 HP; bring it on.

perhaps.

we can fix this though. Carefully a big hole in your nice new seat, take out some stuffing, and put in one of these, with a cable routed to the center console port. Cover with the original seat material after putting a bunch of little holes in it. Ta-da! (*)

They are perforated though which I think makes the biggest difference.
