Back to the topic of the thread....Overheard at the Land Rover dealership service area today (cause where else do you spend your time when you own a Land Rover):

"Service rep to customer: ...the Ford Motor Company stopped manufacturing cars...except the Mustang, that's their only car. But there's the electric Mustang that's coming out.
Customer: Ohhh electric Mustang?"

Guess that settles it.

well now with the Land Rover thing you're making me go off topic again. On the short-lived Top Gear US (the one with Adam Ferrara, Rutledge Wood, and Tanner Foust), there was an episode where Tanner had a brand-new, from-the-manufacturer Range Rover. At one point it starts raining. The brand-new Range Rover starts leaking through the windshield. On another episode, he had a Land Rover that stalled five times. (cf. Top Gear (US) (Series) - TV Tropes)

yeah yeah yeah, but the Discovery is a beast on unmaintained mountain paths and can tow 8200lbs. I am going electric for around town but need something for the wilderness trails. This is the first issue I have had with the Disco...though I have never had to take my Mazdas back to the dealership.

At least they gave me a full-sized Range Rover for a loaner. Which makes me think, what’s going to be an appropriate loaner for the MachE if we have any issues? Mustang or Flex? ?

Speaking of flexing...can’t wait for the stock tires to wear out. Going to get some Nittos.

Well, with the much simpler mechanics of a BEV and better QC than LR the idea is not to need a loaner.

The appropriate loaner for a 2021 Mustang Mach E will be a 2021 Mustang Mach 1 in my humble opinion.

Confession time, I actually don’t like the Mustang. At least not since MY 1966 anyway. Sure the Shelby GT500 is fast and a head turner, but it’s not my car at all. Sure there are styling elements I like about the Mustang but not enough to buy one — ever. I also don’t like the Camaro either. So at least I’m consistent.

So at least for me the MME isn’t cannibalizing Mustang sales. If it didn’t exist I’d not be buying the Mustang or any other Ford, I’d be replacing my Tacoma with another Tacoma probably. Or a Colorado. Or keeping the one I have. It runs fine.
Confession: glad I am not the only one here who thinks that. Two summers ago I spent a week driving my 80 year old mother around the islands in Mustang convertibles (her dream car). I absolutely hated the experience. Being short, I hated the feeling of looking up and out over that long hood. It’s my number one concern with the MME and a deal breaker. It took every ounce of me to not knock on the door of the house of the guy driving the prototype I saw this weekend in the detroit area to ask, “Can I sit in it and see the view?” I kept telling myself, it’s a prototype, it may not be final config...

The proportions of what I did see look promising.

Darn phone quoted the wrong thread. Sorry KamuekaFkyer

Sorry KamuelaFlyer - Darn phone quoted the wrong thread. Agreeing to your earlier sentiments on Mustangs ?.
Before we moved here, we rented a Mustang. Once. The last mustang I really liked was the 1966 model. And that was from afar.

I am not one for a mid-life crisis and therefore would have never bought an ICE Mustang. I burn diesel in the tractor but that is for maintenance, production, heat etc. It was all about green and driving again without the guilt of being apart of where we are going. It really does not hurt tho that the MME runs like it has a V8 under the hood; that I am use too. Mid-life crisis ON.

It is possible the pony is rubbing it in some peoples nose a bit. Kind of like that; back to trash talking humor. Times change and it is greener but more important it is faster; that will help change the market. 7 electric motors and 1400 HP; bring it on.
This is definitely my midlife crisis car! Of course that means I need to live to 130! ?

Funny how it turned out. I have always loved to drive (radar love) but would of never bought a mustang. It was the EV's that I was interested in, just so happens they are quick also so why get a slow one. Yesterday I tried my new electric chain saw for debranching (still drop 1 - 2' dia with the 72 cc). Quieter, lighter and worked perfectly (threw the chain once). Push a button and on; no repeated pulling required. Used 1/2 a battery for a full day. The whipper sniper (full barn) no problems; a few recirculated batteries, light and go. No more flushing cabs. Mid life crisis on ;) +120 here we come.

Now that I've been in the car, I can come back to this thread and address my concern raised above.

The driver's view from the Mach E is less of a concern. I definitely was looking across the hood vs. feeling the bottom of the windshield was where the road would start. It wasn't as bad as I feared and not a deal breaker. The view of the hood was definitely there from the driver's seat, but not as pronounced in other Mustang's I've driven. Felt shorter than the view from my 2018 Camry. I didn't feel like I was sunk down in the car and looking up and over the dash/hood. I liken it to the view from the 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I drove for 10 years and was sad to see go. It gave the feel of being in an SUV, but didn't sit anywhere near as high as the Jeep.

Looking forward to taking delivery of my FE.
