We're heading from East Sussex down to deepest Devon later this month (to my brother who lives well off the beaten track) so I wondered if anyone could suggest/recommend good charging locations either on the A303/A30 part of the route or the alternate A31/A35/A30 route ?
Hi David,

I also live in East Sussex and love to go down to Devon for holiday so will be following any replies you get with interest (especially the M27/A31/A35 route!!!).

I haven't yet done this trip with the MME but I am a big fan of InstaVolt chargers generally pretty reliable, but more expensive than some (especially as now gone up to 57p/kWh) - I'm happy to pay a bit more for the reliability. Should be quite comfortable to get to Bridport if you start off fully charged, where they have a couple of InstaVolt chargers, then they also have a couple a few miles off the A35 near Honiton. There are also Ionity chargers at Cullompton Services on the M5.

My favourite stomping ground in Devon is around Seaton/Axminster/Sidmouth etc, and the local charging network there is pretty poor, I'll be interested to hear how you get on!!!

Hi Stephen

Thanks for your thoughts re: InstaVolt ... will keep this in mind en route ?

Hopefully we may get some further thoughts from fellow MMEs, and I'll let you know how things go ?

Cheers
David

Hi all,

I was looking for a bit of guidance on public/motorway charging ?

Have done a number of longer trips in the 11 months we've had our MME, but to date have always ended up staying somewhere with a fairly decent charger - so have only had to use the public charging network three times (BP once which was good, Shell once which was awful? and the M3 Fleet Services which were absolutely diabolical ??)

We're heading from East Sussex down to deepest Devon later this month (to my brother who lives well off the beaten track) so I wondered if anyone could suggest/recommend good charging locations either on the A303/A30 part of the route or the alternate A31/A35/A30 route ?

All the EV apps show loads but it's difficult to judge the good from the bad! I've seen here (I think!) that Gridserve has upgraded all the chargers on the A30/M5 service area which looks good on the way down, but any thoughts on others would be much appreciated ?

One final question, if the chargers are occupied how/where can you wait ....... what is the etiquette? Can you "check-in" to the charger to get your place in the queue?

Sorry for the somewhat naive question!

Thanks for any help,
David

PS: My car is currently having it's windscreen replaced, and the pano re-sealed and software updates applied - so hopefully will be ready for the next excursion ?
There is about 12 or so Gridserve high power chargers now at Exeter services. I went there a couple of weeks ago. They were all full but I waited in front of them and one became available within a couple of minutes. Nobody else looked as if they were waiting so I nipped in.
There are 2 instavolt chargers by a Starbucks just outside Wimborne on the A31. Been passed a few times and they have always been empty. There is a BP Pulse in the carpark of The Willett Arms just off the Merley Roundabout on the A31 also near Wimborne. Can't help with any others as I don't look for them down my neck of the woods as I always use home/work. If you want to divert to Weymouth you are welcome to call in to my work and use mine to top up, but not after 24/5

Hi @portlandg

Many thanks for the above - that's really helpful, Wimborne could be a good stop-off point ?

Hope all is good with you,
David

My driver door button has stopped working again - won't unlock the car - months after it had to go to the dealer to be reprogrammed. Similar issues with other doors.

I am STILL having issues with mine too. And my welcome lights. Had rather hoped that when the door modules were updated when the car went for it's roof/windscreen recalls that it might have cured the issue, but no, still happens, although I must admit, it doesn't seem to be as bad. Still annoying though.

Well, I got my first OTA Power-Up today (first since Jan ‘21). It’s Power-Up 1.3.0 with ECall software update #21C16!!! Didn’t realise I was on such an old version. Sync was updated too to 21139_PRODUCT Revision: 263. Still taking my vehicle in to dealer to update all modules on FDRS next Thursday. Does look like Ford is finally rolling out updates though. Anyone still on 1.3.0 or is it just me ??
Got notice on my SYNC screen yesterday that Power Up 1.7.1 had installed successfully. Unfortunately it doesn’t appear to have. I don’t have the Notes app, Calm screen, or Apple CarPlay navigation directions in the instrument cluster. Also SYNC version is shown as - - which I believe means I have a stuck 1.7.1 update that may block future OTA updates. Anyone else had this and had it resolved either OTA or via a dealer? Fortunately I’ve got a dealer visit booked in tomorrow to update all the modules in FDRS. I’m sent them Ford’s Technical Service Bulletin TSB 22-2150 which I believe is required to resolve the problem. Anyone else had any experience of fixing this issue or can offer advice? Thanks.

I'm in the same boat. Mine did revert back to showing 1.6.1 about a week later but now my enable updates button is disabled. I'm planning on leaving mine until I get the call for the windscreen. I had the previous updates done by the dealer a couple of months ago and I've been problem free for almost a year now, so I'm not in a rush to let them break it!

It’s finally arrived! ?

…and it has a hands free boot, power fold mirrors, and a Varicharger cable ? (All the stuff I was worried might be missing due to chip shortages)

Looks fantastic already! Take it you are driving your dealer mad to get it out the door ASAP.
