My plan is to wait till you and a few others get your update, and see some reports on how it went for you.
My updates have gone fine, except when they haven't... ?

My dealership is great. When they bricked the instrument panel, Ford gave them wrong info (i.e. order a new one because the recommended fixes have failed). Turns out there was a fix that Ford hadn't put in the dealership's system. It was fixed, not replaced, by Ford engineers and they applied all updates and apologized to the dealership and to me.

Job 1 cars got Bluecruise? I must be behind. No blue lines or charging network up here anyway so kind of useless and not the anticipation as I see others have.

Same thing running into the city once this winter. Spins a bit more in the snow with no awd. I came home hooked up the 12V charger and all was well the next time. Not sure but hoping it is not the HV battery for you. Sounds more like it did not boot clean and the big battery is not the CMOS battery the 12V is. The 12V dies or gets low nothing works well.
I hope CMOS has a back up battery ! Can't believe the 12volt battery provides the only power to the Computer controller logic.

My plan is to come back here and complain that I haven't received the OTA and that the dealer is clueless. ;)

My MME is going in for the glass recalls this week. I already discussed the latest recall. In the stunningly unlikely event the dealers get a process to resolve it, they're not to apply it to my car under any circumstances. I'll wait for the OTA

That is not what we are being told.

On affected vehicles, Direct Current (“DC”) fast charging and repeated wide open pedal events can cause the high voltage battery main contactors to overheat.

It does not say DC fast charging is not recommended.
It does not say you can't drive at high speed.

No, this is not how timing will work based on history. Dealers will be able to use FDRS to apply the updates to modules on a certain date. There is zero chance, based on history, that OTA updates will be on that date. In fact, based on history, they will be much after that date. BlueCruise updates OTA began well after the dealerships had the ability to do them.

In addition, OTA updates are significantly faster than dealership-applied updates. Way, way faster.

Me, I plan on going to the dealership the minute that have the updates.
You may be right but not much history with a two year old car. As for myself I do not care when I get the update as I really do not worry about the recall.

I do not think there is a 12V power supply that fires up like on normal PC's. Or a non-rechargeable silver dollar battery in there somewhere. DC/DC converter to charge the 12V to power the OS I think. 12V dies or is at a low state of charge it will not boot and will melt down. Trust me I have seen it a few times now. 12V is the heart even for 100 KWh ev's.

Every time I get a letter notice for the roof I contact my deal (in writing) for liability reasons. I hope I have the trifecta of recalls in my app but for the latest recall OTA is now off and we will wait to see what the latest band-aid does prior to jumping on board. Not enough info at this stage. At least they have informed us of the quickest way to burn them out so we can get the revised part ;).

Am I wrong in my understanding? I’m reading it as the letters notifying owners will go out on 7/18, not the fix. The NHTSA notice says end of Q3. I originally thought the fix would be mid July, but I’m thinking that’s just wishful thinking on my part.
I‘m sure Ford is working quickly to get the fix out to dealers and I hope it’s July, but that’s not how I’m reading it.

Q. What is the expected repair?
A. A software update through an Over-The-Air (OTA) update or by visiting a dealer. Software will be available in July.

If they are installing it at the factory, they just need to test deployment via FDRS and then the dealers will be good to go. OTA is another test cycle, that would be later. I think they are hedging their bets with the NHTSA notice.

Will the update take power away from the vehicle. That is the main reason I am buying this car besides being electric is the takeoff. I watch alot of videos and it makes grown men giggle when they take off.

This has been asked multiple times, and answers made up multiple times. The correct answer is that we have no idea what the software fix does.
