I can't understand why Ford would allow this to happen. Look at the cost to repair these under warranty because of it! And since it is a part of the main battery, wouldn't it be a part of the 8 year / 100000 mile warranty?

My car is connected to my wi-fi. Great signal strength, as the car is parked about 20' from my router.

Yes, but IF, for safety reasons, the HV battery needs to be de-energized prior to removing and replacing the HVBJB, then an access point would do no good - because you have to drop the battery pack anyway to discharge it. Again, I say IF - but I can't imagine how one would remove the HVBJB without discharging the battery pack first to avoid the risk of electrocution.

Interesting that the pack can't be de-energized without removing the battery first. My Volt had a procedure to do that without removing the battery.

I found the old video for that:

Figured the MME would have something similar.

No movement for me. Check out the 5/30 build week gang chat. One guy from the same batch (6205) had his modules populated yesterday. The first we know.
Just checked and mine switched from "in production" to "Built"
Scratch that, my modules just populated. I may or may not have been obsessively checking multiple times a day this week. :p
My modules populated a couple of days ago and mine switched to built yesterday!

I wonder if this has something to do with my cars problems. I did not get a "Stop safely" message or loss of power but loads of other messages including AWD Not avalible and ESP Not avalible etc. I could drive the car only loosing the ability to choose driving mode and one pedal drive (aside from AWD etc.).

But the next day the shifter wouldnt budge, had to get it towed to the workshop and now Ford tells me they will probably need to replace the whole battery pack ?

That sounds similar to what happened with mine several months ago. They replaced the High Voltage Battery Junction Box and Battery Electronic Control Module. Here's the writeup, which also included the glass recall, and replacing the front half shafts.

My VIN is in the list for this recall too.

Why wouldn’t they just have the software update instead?

Ford has software figured out months before it’s available for OTA. Just look at 2021 job 2 cars with Bluecruise from the factory, then 7 months later job 1 cars got it OTA.

Due to the recall, this timeline is shortened significantly though.
Job 1 cars got Bluecruise? I must be behind. No blue lines or charging network up here anyway so kind of useless and not the anticipation as I see others have.

Same thing running into the city once this winter. Spins a bit more in the snow with no awd. I came home hooked up the 12V charger and all was well the next time. Not sure but hoping it is not the HV battery for you. Sounds more like it did not boot clean and the big battery is not the CMOS battery the 12V is. The 12V dies or gets low nothing works well.

Now we are told that DCFC charging is not recommended with high speed driving. Those free hours expire for me at the end of March, 2023. So if I have to rent another car for the trip, since the MME is not capable of safely making that trip and those free charging sessions expire, what a deal for Ford!!!
That is not what we are being told.

On affected vehicles, Direct Current (“DC”) fast charging and repeated wide open pedal events can cause the high voltage battery main contactors to overheat.

It does not say DC fast charging is not recommended.
It does not say you can't drive at high speed.

Last comment - Ford stated consumers can either do the OTA or go to their dealer. So both will happen at the same time. Whether that takes place shortly after July 18th who knows for sure but both will be taken care of. I think Ford is clear - software is in new cars built after 5/24 and OTA’s (and dealers) after letters roll out July 18th will install software in cars built prior to 5/25.
No, this is not how timing will work based on history. Dealers will be able to use FDRS to apply the updates to modules on a certain date. There is zero chance, based on history, that OTA updates will be on that date. In fact, based on history, they will be much after that date. BlueCruise updates OTA began well after the dealerships had the ability to do them.

In addition, OTA updates are significantly faster than dealership-applied updates. Way, way faster.

Me, I plan on going to the dealership the minute that have the updates.

Just got off the phone with the dealer and they have confirmed that it is this HVB Main Connectors issue. Some Ford Technician is bringing tools trying to fix it in the beginning of July but if he cant fix it they will replace the complete battery pack. And now their 1.5 months was changed to "probably at least all of summer" if the battery needs replacement.

Thinking this is the same high voltage junction box issue (contactors) that we have all been subjected to for over a year now. It is the junction box which houses the HVB contacts from what I understand not the complete battery pack but who knows in your case.

My plan is to wait till you and a few others get your update, and see some reports on how it went for you.
