Thanks for the thought. I’m going up there shortly with my fingers crossed that I actually get to leave with it.

You are correct to double check though. If it turns out they were not allowed to deliver (they can still sell it to you) then they will ask for it back. One issue holding on to it is its warranty will not start and dealers will not do any repairs as it will not be in the system. There are a couple of treads where consumers discussed this. As long as they can register the sale with Ford you will be good to go. Hope it goes well for you!

Hey there! I can look into your Mach-E’s error message concerns on my end if you’d like. Will you send us a message with your VIN and dealership info?
What is the best way to send you a message with this information. Thanks

This is a stop-sale, so I'd be surprised if any dealership would push through the paperwork on an undeliverable car. My dealership certainly has not offered to sell me mine, though I'm sure they'd love to take possession of my money sooner rather than later. As far as whether a car is deliverable or not, it's their responsibility to make that determination. If they allowed me to take possession of a car based on their mistake and then tried to take it back even though I'd already paid for it, that would make for a very interesting conversation.

Not that it matters but it is a Delivery Hold and not a stop-sale. If someone was freaking out about not getting the IRS rebate then they could purchase now and take delivery after recall software is uploaded. One of the software updates was actually released today if I read correctly but there are several more to go.

That doesn't work, not legally anyways. To get the rebate, you need to put the vehicle into operation.

So when you file for the tax rebate you send the purchase information and then also state you operated the vehicle? I have mine so no issue there. Just seems strange but I believe it.

Where did you read about the software release?

Yes, that is correct, the car must be put into service in the tax year you are claiming. And to be completely accurate, it isn't a rebate, it's a tax credit. Totally different animal.

One of the threads today identifies several software updates and according to what they posted one of the software update’s identifying number matched the number Ford identified as the BECM recall fix. Just going by what was shared in the thread.

To claim the credit, on IRS form 8911 you provide the VIN and the date when the vehicle was placed in service. From doing this before I believe my CPA asked for the purchase documentation but I believe this was for their records and wasn't supplied to the IRS.

Hmm, thanks. If you happen to have a link to that discussion could you provide it? My dealership as of this morning has no information.

It actually does matter because this is wrong. The law is NO new car can be sold with an active recall. Not just delivered. People keep spreading this misinformation, it’s insane. An easy search will tell you you’re wrong.

Thanks so it seems some owners are already installing this update OTA? Yet dealerships cannot for the stop-sale cars? Yikes, if true.
No, owners are installing using FDRS. It was released on the weekend, dealers have to get instructions released before they can just apply. No one knows for sure if these are the fix. Also, historically they have released updates and the TSB follows later.
