I totally agree with you -- but honestly I would say don't drive your car on a road trip if you're not prepared to have this kind of experience. It was a little sub-optimal with my 7 and 4 year olds in the car.
Before taking delivery my wife and I agreed that this car would be for in-city use only, sadly due to all of these reports. We will continue to use our other, more reliable vehicles for road trips until we can have confidence in this car. Or we will just sell it.

It's almost like Ford released the recall remedy notice early because they saw you were leaning towards taking a rental for the trip. Revenge for you changing your profile to GT PE? and junction box software engineer.
I think they didn't realize I was joking.

I bet the GTs will be plenty "robust" with the revised engineered part. At least that's what I'm telling myself tonight. While watching video reviews of the i4 m50 and trying to convince myself that the front is "not that ugly". My kids are telling me otherwise though.

Trust your kids on that one!!!!

Next time I see them I'll convince them to start watching videos of the e-tron GT. Maybe subliminal messaging will work.

Also - I'm jealous that you're getting the new HVBJB. I want it!

Also also - I'm ready for the drama on this thread. Got my popcorn and I'm set.

As my occupation shows, I am their junction box software tester apparently.
I'm afraid we are all testers until Ford gets their shit together. How long until this fails and actually hurts someone.

The other news here is this shows us the new failed contactor codes that were added with the recall software, P0ADA and P0ADE. The service manual was recently updated with these new codes.

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

When the ignition is turned on, the BECM makes various vehicle checks. If these checks are normal, the BECM sends a signal to the contactor to close and supply high-voltage power to the vehicle. The BECM monitors the resistance of contactors while driving to verify that they are free of internal damage. For DTC P0ADA:00, the wrench indicator will illuminate and the vehicle will have limited power.

DTC Fault Trigger Conditions

DTCDescriptionFault Trigger Condition
BECM P0ADA:00Hybrid/EV Battery Positive Contactor Control Circuit Range/Performance: No Sub Type InformationSets if BECM detects high internal resistance within the main positive contactor.

Possible Sources
  • Wiring, terminals or connectors
  • High voltage battery junction box
  • BECM
The procedure calls for dropping the pack, checking if the the harness connection is fully seated, and if that's good it calls for replacement of the HVBJB. So in most cases getting a P0ADA code will mean you need a new HVBJB.

P0ADE is the code for a bad negative contactor, but the info is the same.

Sorry to hear this happened. I noticed today my build date got pushed back another two weeks today and I’m starting to wonder if they’re related.

Started looking seriously at the Fisker Ocean today …

Sorry this happened, especially with family in the car. At least I suppose you were in the final stretch and not in the middle of the Central Valley.

I had mentioned this on another thread DevSecOps started, but are we really sure existing HVJBs haven't been experiencing premature wear as opposed to I suppose a catastrophic failure all of a sudden on an otherwise perfect component? It seems this happens to people after several thousand miles on the odometer, at least I don't recall reading about someone saying, for example, they got the vehicle two weeks ago and experienced the failure at mile 400 or something along those lines.

This is his second failure. Just over two months on this HVBJB.

@scoopman would have to tell you for sure but he just had the HVBJB replaced like 2 months ago and I doubt he had over 1k on it.

Yeah, I suppose he will hopefully say, I guess my point was are we really sure his second HVJB wasn't already 'near death' by the time he got the software fix, and I wonder if there would be any way to test that.

when I saw him yesterday, he said that he’d been taking it easy on the car since the first HVBJB went down. ??
