My HVBJB was replaced in April after my car bricked. Does anyone know the date that they started putting the new part in?

There seems to be a lot of dealers that are worried about this, and it's possible that we don't have a ton of insight on the workings between Ford and the dealerships. I wonder if the real issue is Ford being incredibly picky about reimbursing dealers for work done. Maybe they are like insurance companies that will find any reason to deny your claim? If the dealer replaced the part after clearing the code, perhaps ford would not be reimburse because there wasn't an active DCT code? I really hope Ford isn't that picky, but it wouldn't surprise me.

It's a fine balance as Ford also wants to prevent dealers from taking advantage of the reimbursement for work done that may not be required.
Both are true. And for a reason. Not all dealers are on the up and up.

After April. Look at your repair order which might be in FordPass for the product number.

  1. Codes should be logged OTA so the dealer/engineers should be able to see the P0ADA/P0ADE code happened previously even if someone cleared then out.
  2. Driving the car hard (WOT) will probably re-trigger the code.
  3. If the dealer clears the codes without a repair and returns the car, perform #2 and bring it right back.
  4. You should open a case with Ford right away if you haven’t yet.
  5. Emphasize the code should be looked up in the workshop manual (search) and the pinpoint test instructions should be followed (which direct replacement).
You looking for a new job? looks like the Ford dealer hotline can use some help.

Wouldn't happen to have the new part number handy? I've seen it before but if it's not too much trouble if you know it.

Mine was replaced May 17th with the updated part number. I am almost 4,000 miles post replacement with no problems so far and I have not modified my driving/charging habits.

Well, it was finally my turn it seems. I completed the recall software updates via FDRS last week and noticed nothing adverse after the updates and then today I got the dreaded “Service Vehicle Soon” message.

For background, I never DCFC and never have with my GTPE. I purely level 2 charge to 90% every night.

I have a very short commute to work of about 15 miles that is 90% highway and slightly hilly, but nothing really crazy like @scoopman experienced. If anyone is curious, it is the 73 toll road in Orange County.

The failure occurred on my way home from work after my car sat all day in my office’s parking structure that kept it pretty cool. Ambient temps were in the low to mid 70’s on my way home. I had used BlueCruise the whole way set to 75 and had only “gassed it” slightly at the toll booth when BC disengages.

I then exited the freeway and “gassed it” one more time, from roughly 30 mph to 40 to pass someone. Shortly after the pass I received the SVS message and my power was severely limited to the same as @scoopman

Please note, neither of the power events were in anyway pedal to the metal or anywhere close to maxing my power meter.

I ended up going home as it was after 5pm. I turned it off and on a few times and was able to drive with the same messages and power limits in place. I just tried it again and am getting the same. Hopefully it works tomorrow.

I called a few dealers and got nowhere. They all said they’re booked out for weeks. I tried explaining but the appointment people wouldn’t budge. I emailed and left a voicemail for the GM of my preferred dealer, Tuttle Click Ford in Irvine, and hope I’ll hear from him or else I guess I just call Ford corporate and see what they can do?

Pretty bummed it finally happened to me but am also happy I’ll get the beefier part. The only concern is if I can get service! Pretty crazy this is gong on and Ford hasn’t told dealers to get people with issues like this in pronto.

I'm sorry this happened to you. This is our collective nightmare. I see you only have 4767 miles on it. My car has about the same. I was hoping this was more of a 10k miles issue so I had some time. I have not DCFD'd yet either. I have a Premium SR RWD. Has anyone with this trim had the issue? I assume no one is immune, but looking for anything to cling to for hope.
Are we thinking the software update doesn't fix the issue, but keeps the car from completely bricking? Has anyone who hasn't updated the SW been able to drive your car in turtle mode? I am leery of the SW upgrade, but looking for the safest course of action.

So a little update: I convinced the service manager to overnight the part last night, thankfully. He said it still relies on the foreman but he'll do me a favor and get the part there as he at least sees in the service manual where it does say to drop the pack and basically replace the HVBJB after simple checks. The shop foreman, last night, was still saying he has to get the DTC to reappear but will oblige and open a hotline request with Ford corp.

I asked the service manager to order "-C" HVBJB, he said it is showing up but is not available. He was only able to "order -A" but it places the order for "-B" since it has been superseded. I'll trust the people here who said you cannot get -A and that -B is really going to arrive.

This morning I get a text from the foreman that he hasn't heard back from Ford and is going to take the car to try and get it to fail again... yay... I hear back from him shortly after saying that he got a response from the hotline saying a bunch of bullshit that if the car was fine BEFORE I updated the modules and he was able to clear the DTCs and nothing returned, then the car is fine. I then called him and didn't even really try as he is so set on "Ford is telling me to do this" blah, blah and now, I can't really fault him, I mean, Ford did say don't do anything if the BECM DTC does not return after being cleared. They essentially are saying I did the module updates wrong and to re-program them and I'll be set.

Well, the dealer still hasn't heard from Ford corp. even though I keep being assured they'll reach out and set this straight. I would have to say, as much as it is nice to have some Ford guys on here, it clearly has quite the lag, so hopefully they get this sorted. I don't understand how the system is setup, but I wish Ford could have just put notes on my VIN since I provided that right away, seems odd there is even the possibility of miscommunication.

Thankfully, or not?, the foreman drove the 73 like a bat out of hell, I guess, and managed to trip the DTC AGAIN! Holy cow. It defaulted to exactly the same as what happened to me, according to him, he said the same messages popped up (the same messages also popped up in FordPass) and he can see the power is severely limited. He called me while in the car right after it happened.

I think this is the first confirmed back to back failure with the new recall software, so clearly all those that got their DTCs cleared and back on their way will just get the DTC again even easier. Keep in mind I had this software since last week and have been doing the commute for a few days with it, same driving style, without an event. Then I had an event and another was immediately triggered again.
I see the B available there will be a supply crunch shortly though.
Give your dealerships sometime to repair them remember the batteries got to come out the part has to be replaced the battery has to be reassembled back together and then tested to make sure it is completely sealed.

It took the dealer I was at a day to do this. So long as there are not any problems, this isn't a long job.

I have not had the recall software install yet. When they installed the updated part I do not believe the recall software was available yet.
