In the video they talked about how flexible the platform was, that it could accommodate this. I expect the FWD may have the least amount of cabling since everything could be placed under the hood, which could increase trunk space.
GM will not make more than one body design for different power configurations. The trunk space will remain the same for FWD or RWD. As for cabling, they just install the correct harness according to the power setup. Even the mounting points are all the same. So it will be possible to add a second motor by a third party for AWD when it came with only one motor.

What's under the hood? Cannot find any pics with the hood up.
IF it is assembled on the same line as the Cadillac Lyriq , it will have a big plastic cover and the different fluid bottle caps. Search and read the Cadillac Lyriq owner manual for details.

It makes sense that there probably is no storage. Otherwise, they would show it off.

I still want a EV Coupe.....Like a Mustang or a Camaro. Heck, even a EV two seater like the mazda would be great.
Even more of a niche market than a BEV cuv. Those will come (I hope), but it’ll be awhile.

My recent trip to LA: 43c/kWh EA price, 2.4m/kWh average efficiency, 10% loss. The cost per mile: 19.7c. Compare it to my wife's large SUV from the same trip: $5.59/gal, 31mpg. The cost per mile: 18c.
Taking into account that we live at a crazy time with gasoline sky high and electricity still low, the advantage of gas vehicles will be even bigger in the future.
Depending on how long your trip was, did you look into signing up for EA Pass+? That $4 monthly fee usually pays itself if you drive far enough.

I will agree that some smaller SUVs can get there (though we had a Murano ~4 years ago and never got better than 24mpg). However, this post was about Large, full sized SUVs. 3 row, body-on-frame. The big boys.
24mpg? -- that's what my wife gets in the city. There is no difficulty getting over 29mpg on highway.
Full size SUVs are not the largest monsters, it's cars like Highlander, Pilot, Explorer. But even compact SUVs are bigger than MME. Most BEVs are just oversized sedans.

Small SUVs are plenty useful. it all depends upon your specific personal use case. I had a ‘96 RAV4 for 9 years that was a great commuter and even worked as a road trip car. But once we got a minivan, that became the road trip car because we could put the kids in their own row and that cut down on arguments a lot.
I was responding to the comment about the 3rd row seats…I feel the tiny 3rd row seats that manufacturers add just to say they have them are useless. Again, that’s my point of view as I would rather have the cargo space instead of a useless seat. I’m sure others find them useful, that doesn’t mean I need to.

Yes.

But most of the BEVs currently are small crossovers. Whoever is first to market with an affordable performance coupe will have zero competition.

A performance coupe would also go a long way to draw hopefully positive attention to electric cars.

I think the level of usefulness varies considerably with the size of the human that is sitting back there. and how many are back there. But yeah, I do agree that some of those third row seats are vestigial. Like I said, most of the time we leave ours down, but there have been times where we’ve had to pop a seat or two up to carry some extra passengers, and they’ve been forced to sit back there for hours at a time. Stopping every couple of hours helps to let people stretch their legs, and possibly rotate whoever is stuck in the back.

I will say I think the Mach-E looks nicer than the blazer. Chevy looks chunky to me still while the Mach-E looks more streamlined and refined. Also not a fan of the "gear shift" being similar to what I associate with a truck or mini van style. I prefer having it down by the center console separate from the steering wheel.
I agree. The Blazer looks chunky and heavy to me. I'm still very enamored with my MME, thank you very much! 😊

Blazer chunky? Mine is FAT. If it is not fat and ugly, it’s #NoTaBlAzEr 🤪🐩

Certainly reminds me of all the features I expected my MME to have a year ago and I'm still waiting for.

Ford, are you seeing this shit? 190kw charging, motorized charge door, 500hp, cooled seats, supercruise on day 1...

While very similar looking to the MME at certain angles, it certainly looks like Chevy has a winner here.
Have caution on Any GM announcements of up coming ev. They are now selling the AWD lyric and are giving a assumed miles target. Really...assumed and people are buying them not realizing a 5000 lb ev 500 plus hp 100kw battery 280 miles. Never.....watch it drop to 250.....

You do realize the GT weighs 5000 lbs with 480 hp and a smaller 88 kWh battery and gets 270 miles, right?

Hmmmm,

If GM can bring it to market without:
  • A leaky windshield
  • No problems with the 12v battery going dead
  • A mobile app the works, consistently
  • A major recall on overheating contactors
  • And a place to hook up and tow/pull from the rear
they just may have a winner here. Time will tell.

PS: Sometimes is sucks to be first to the market. You don't get the advantage of learning from others mistakes.
