I’d just be happy if Ford fixed the current issues. CarPlay connection and profile issues. I’m sick of trying to get my phone to connect while driving. Now I just drive around with the screen telling me to connect a phone. I drive 100 to 150 miles everyday and make 10 stops. Pretty damn annoying. Rarely did it fail before the update that caused it. Rarely does it connect now.

Ford LOVES their drive modes. Even though it’s almost totally irrelevant when using 1PD.
Drive modes irrelevant when using 1PD? How do you figure? The acceleration, steering, and 1PD reduction force change very noticeably between modes. Not sure how 1PD affects a decision on when you want firmer steering.

I do agree that I doubt people change them that much though. Now, if they added a custom drive mode, oh baby!!
Drive modes definitely make a difference in 1PD. I drive in Engage during the week and Unbridled on the weekend. If I switch the mode while moving I can feel the car speed up or slow down when I make the switch, and I’m not moving my foot. The acceleration mapping on the pedal position is definitely different. Also I always get a higher mile per kWh in unbridled, so there has to be more regen happening.

Ok I think I figured out why these new buttons really look bad, besides the fact that there’s a house on a car.
Ford Mustang Mach-E Sync 4A Update Overview from Ford - Larger Apple CarPlay Android Auto interface, added dial functionality & more 43ABE3A8-BD49-4A66-866E-D7233D42FA4E

The buttons are always grey. Doesn’t matter if you are in dark or light mode, they are always grey. The only exception is when they are pressed, then apparently they turn white or black. WHY?

It should be the opposite. Have them white or black and turn grey when selected. You know, just like the Alexa button right next to them.

This small and seemingly insignificant detail is a perfect example of bad user interface design. You are telling the user what the rule is for for how buttons work with every other button, and then breaking that rule for these two.

The more I look at this new layout the less respect I have for Ford and their entire software team.

Not having a dedicated camera and trunk button on the screen is still a huge swing and a miss.. only vehicle in fords line up without a camera button readily available
Hmmm...there isn't one on the Lightning either....a major gripe of mine coming from a long list of previously owned F-150s that had that button right at the top of the center screen bezel.

Strangely enough the Lightning does have a set of "hard" buttons above the light switch for the Frunk and Tailgate......and in the access menu on Sync there's a Frunk soft button...but no corresponding soft tailgate button?

Question for the camera activation - how many soft key presses are needed to turn on the cameras (360) on the MME ?

I ask because my wife's MME is being built next month.

(I do have the Lightning and it requires 2 presses to turn on the cameras which is a pain because the turning radius sucks).
It's the same as the Lightning.

Maybe so, maybe not. Ford's software decisions are head-scratching, and there's little evidence (IMHO) that they're listening or care what current owners want. Alexa, "Advanced Dual Bluetooth", the Today Show, and a bunch of games that are too dumb for me to even remember. Meanwhile, I can't even see what charging rate is being delivered to my car.
Agreed....one of the things that's supposed to happen when you're enrolled in the Early Access program is you are supposed to respond to occasional surveys that @Ford Motor Company sends out.

I don't recall seeing any surveys so far asking what I thought of this or that or the other thing with regards to the Sync 4A stuff. From empirical results in this thread it would appear that the only opinions they got were from last summer's interns.

I don't know why but 2021 Job 1 cars have been tragically orphaned on getting updates for some reason, but later cars have been getting updates so this isn't necessarily a reason to think the rollout would take that long to start for everyone else. Certainly feel bad for those early buyers though.
....and don't forget the forgotten tragically orphaned '21 Job 2s built after Sep 30 that aren't even eligible for the soon-to-be-expired CSP 21P22...and all of them have a pant-load of updates showing as available.....

Maybe true. As a 2021 Job2 owner I don‘t really mind this entire OTA topic anyway to be very honest as most essential SW features have been there since day 1 (frunk release + full-Screen CarPlay). All I‘m confused is that Ford misses some obvious after-market revenue streams. I‘d be ready to pay let’s say 1k$ to retrofit latest processors/cameras/BC1.2 of 2023 model year into my 2021 MME, or another 3k$ to officially upgrade to the Premium Headlights instead of the stupid subscriptions for YouTube or News. Most likely I‘m just over-estimating the market interest on those substantial Upgrades though.
I think they’ll want you to trade in to the newer model or it’s just not worth the hassle for 1. And then for 2 it would definitely cut into higher trim sales.

Anyone outside the US don’t get excited, according to Ford UK there’s no current plans for this in Europe.

Ok, honest question. Do you think of things you need and order them from Amazon while you are driving? Ask about the status of you deliveries?

I really don't know how or why I would want to use it...
We use Alexa for our shopping lists, etc. So when we are driving somewhere and someone remembers we need mayo or beer or steak or whatever, we can just easily add it to the shopping list so we don't forget.

Nooo… but not unsurprising at this point.
This is not guaranteed either. Just because the person I talked to belives that to be the case, doesn't mean it's correct or that things won't change for the better (job 1 frunk wise) once other priorities are dealt with.

Echoing everyone else…a dedicated camera and hatch button on the screen would be very welcome. Just let us create shortcuts!
Yep. Camera, Liftgate, and Frunk (when it finally works) buttons should be on the main screen as easy 1-touch.

In addition, I really wish they would add much better automatic camera screen options that could be chosen in Settings. Like to have the camera screen activate automatically when getting within 10 feet of any object while in Drive.

The cameras are great but they're really only useful now when in Reverse. They would be great for use going forward too (in parking spots, my garage, etc), but it's too much of a PITA to have to manually turn on. The cameras are great feature just gets mostly wasted. 😖

Circle in the middle of the knob needs to be some kind of toggle for the modality of the dial, or else this isn't a less-distracting, more pleasant experience. eg if you long-pressed where the power button is now to change temporarily from volume to HVAC, this UI would make more sense.
Or push the knob to change the mode with some sort of indication either in the instrument cluster or the upper driver-side corner of the center screen with it defaulting back to volume after some sort of timeout period.

The Prius V I had previous to the Mach E had a single dial for the climate control that you'd toggle left/right to change what the dial was controlling (air distribution, temperature, and fan speed from left to right); the only thing that would've improved it was if it defaulted back to temperature, otherwise you'd have to look down to see what the dial was set to.

I'm sure Ford is spending more resources on their next gen Android based system then they are on this yucky QNX spaghetti code in our cars.
Having experienced how Kia/Ioniq and Polestar have gone about that is somewhat worrying to say the least. The Ioniq system is dangerously unclear.
