Has anybody with both a Mach-E and Lightning paired their Lightning FOB to the Mach-E and used the same FOB with both vehicles? I don't see why this wouldn't work but thought I would ask before I did it.

How do those covers go on and off? There is no explanation on the sellers page.
The end is open, and it slides over the fob. You push in the sides just a little to do this, and it is a nice fit when done.

I believe it is a two-way pairing, so the fob can only be paired with one vehicle.

It will only work with the vehicle it has most recently been paired with.

That's too bad. The thought of only having to carry one FOB and not worry about which I was going to drive got me excited for a minute.

I purchased a five key fob on ebay. OEM 2018 - 2022 FORD EXPLORER REMOTE START KEY FOB SMART KEY 164-R8198 | eBay

I went through the instruction steps and I got two successful messages on screen as if it paired right after I placed the new ebay key in the pairing slot. Unfortunately the new key does not work at all.

Any thoughts?

My guess is that I bought the wrong key with an incompatible radio. I think it paired correctly through the pairing holster but cant talk to the mach-e because it has a different radio?

Or is it something else?

Pretty sure all the remote start fobs use the higher frequency. You can only pair a maximum of 4 keys to a car without the dealer software, so be careful to get something you know will work if you make another attempt or you will be locked out from adding more keys.

There are a ton of prior threads on this. You have to pick between "Team CPR" (drop gently to first latch, then press) and "Team Light Slammer".

https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/video-how-to-close-the-frunk.7817/

Take care with the hood panel, though--it isn't beefy and seems like it would easily dent in with an improperly positioned CPR-style stroke.
Glad I stumbled across this advice, I have been on both teams and I have decided to stick with light slam. The CPR method has me causing the hood to cave in ever so slightly once in a while if I don't get my hands in the right place. Light slam works, though I still don't like it.

My OLLLLD Lincoln continental had a trunk latch motor where I let it close gently, then the motor grabs it and pulls it down the rest of the way. That would've been really nice for the frunk. Hell, all doors and hatches and lids should have this feature, like soft close on kitchen cabinet doors and drawers, but for cars.

Not to derail this thread but the comments about opening and closing the frunk made me think about a visit to the Lucid Air showroom in a high end mall near me a few weeks ago. I watched them open and close the frunk on the Dream edition. The frunk is motorized so no need to manually open it or slam it shut. Impressive. Apparently the hardware is quite pricey which is why this won’t be available on the lower trim models.
Commented without seeing yours here, but I mentioned my old ass Lincoln Continental where the trunk was motorized, and that should be standard in all cars in the luxury or even borderline luxury like the MME. Frunk, hatch, and all 4 doors should be a gentle close and let the motors pull them completely closed.

You bought the wrong fob. Any fob with a remote start button won't work with the MME.

IIRC, the Exploder key is in a different frequency than the MME, so they don’t work together. ?‍♂?

Yes that is correct. I learned the lesson that for Mach-E at least for this generation it has to be 315 Mhz. You can't trust 3rd party web sites based on part number, you need the FCCID number.

Then look it up at FCC ID Search to verify the fob is the correct 315 mhz. The explorer fob i bought was 900 mhz which i verified looking up fcc id which are printed on the inside of the fob,
