A local Ford dealer, not where I purchased my Mach E, has now called me two times leaving messages about an urgent HVAC recall they need to perform on the car, and for me to call them to schedule it. They are offering to send someone here to do it.

I've spent enough time here to know there is no HVAC recall, and when I search online recall databases, there are no open recalls on my car.

I remember there was an HVAC update, but I'm pretty certain I got that over the air.

Could this be anything legit, or just a dealer trying to make some warranty money?

There is an open FSA program (same as OTA 3.6.1).

My car still shows the FSA open too, even though I got 3.6.1 back on Jan 25th. If you got 3.6.1 installed then you're fine and can ignore the dealer.

Huh. This is odd to me.
I got 3.6.1 over the air back in early December. Pic attached.

But when I log in to check recall status it shows no recalls and one CSP. Does that mean 3.6.1 didn’t take? I’m up to 4.2.4 as of this week.

thanks for the quick replies!!

You're all caught up, the CSP just hasn't cleared and probaly won't without a dealer visit.

Interesting… went in today with my ‘21 GTPE to have my summer wheels/tires swapped in, and when I picked up the car the sheet showed they did 22B28 as well. Cost nothing for the update. I looked back at prior OTA updates, and though I’ve had several, saw I don’t have a confirmation on 3.6.1 Looks legit to me.

I got the same call and was surprised as well. It felt weird, but they offered to come to my workplace to do the update. It turned out to be legit and they came by to do the update and it was my local Ford dealer. They also provided me with my second key fob. I am glad I didn't have to go into the dealership to get this update.

There was a newer version of the HVAC update released a few weeks ago to address fogging, newer than 3.6.1: https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...e-driving-during-freezing-temperatures.26931/

It is not a recall and is not urgent. You can wait until your next service visit, the update is available through November.

OTAs are new for Ford, and once system doesn't talk to another. One system thinks you need the CSP because a dealer didn't go through the process of entering the installation into that system's database, while the car actually got the software in the OTA managed by a completely different system which did update its database.
Actually they sort of do. When an OTA completes a CSP or recall, a script is supposed to make an automated warranty claim that will mark the CSP as completed in OASIS. For whatever reason that didn't occur, or Ford decided they wanted you to have the latest version now instead of just 3.6.1. I would expect there to be another HVAC OTA with the latest version before this fall that would take care of it too.

Although a little fog on the windshield does not sound urgent to me, you might want to see if you have a nice dealer that can press the "OK" button a couple of more times when your car is connected for this CSP warranty work so that you can get your car up to date with the new UI and various other bug fixes and goodies.... If they are willing to update your car, might be worth your time.

I took mine in for its 10k maintenance @12.5k MI a few weeks ago I had this recall done. I was actually surprised. Didn't read anything on here about it beforehand. I dont know if I notice anything before after.

OK, well I guess I was speaking from experience at another large company and wasn't aware of the script that is supposed to connect the 2 systems. My mistake.

Lee, thanks for jumping in there. I was just going to say..."but there's a second HVAC update!"

Also you're on point about OTAs not clearing a FSA action. I don't know why they don't have a mechanism (asbuilt script, ChatGPT-bot, or a six-pack of interns) that can check to see if an OTA has successfully been accomplished and mark a Field Service Action (FSA) as "Done". I still have an open FSA on my Lightning for the asbuilt BCM TPMS update that I did personally 8 months ago and apparently the Fordaristas are blithely unaware.

OTAs clear FSAs through the above script, but FDRS updates with no warranty claims do not. Therefore self-updaters are permanently stuck with them. My car still shows the 22S41 recall and 22B28. Ford doesn’t really have a solution, nor have they really thought about one it seems. If it ever goes to the dealer I’m worried about what stunts they might pull when the can’t figure out why the updates they’re supposed to do aren’t there.

And I'm stuck with these. I don't worry what my SA and Techs think. They know full well I have been updating my car and truck and have even offered me a job. ?

I received 4.2.5 OTA earlier this week. The dealer just called again to schedule the update for the HVAC. I mentioned the OTA, and they said it's not the same thing. They're going to come here, so it's not an issue for me to let them come and try it, but what say you...do I already have this update with 4.2.5?
