Here were the presented options:

Options:
  • $75 a month
  • $2100 - 3 Years
  • $5400 for - lifetime.

What a joke. (I made sure to trash them thoroughly throughout the survey on the proposed "options").

Summary of my input:
  • I'm willing to pay $10 a month MAXIMUM.
  • BlueCruise isn't really that good vs plain cruise control. Surely no $75 a month good. Currently its in a BETA form.
  • Auto makers should never Pay-wall features on $63,000 autos. Its a sure way to lose repeat sales.
  • I'm getting nickle and dimed on tons of services, I don't want it to migrate to my car.
  • I'm reluctantly willing to pay every few years for an OS upgrade - Like the old Microsoft or Mac OS models. $99-$200 bucks for a new OS type thing

One you pick your Maker and Car type the survey is 100% related to Blucruise and BlueCruise pricing. This is a VERY specific information gathering exercise by Ford.

Received and filled out the same survey.

what was the stated question or situation? new car order? renewal for existing car?
They asked a bunch of questions such as: (And other variations of what is seen below).

They really wouldn't every let you say all of the options suck balls. They never ask: What are you willing to pay? So it appears that they are stuck on this 3 option price model - No matter what. just from the question format. It NEVER deviates and tries to get you to agree to one of them. (I never did)

Questions:
Would you be willing to pay 5k at time of purchase?
Would you be willing to pay 2k for 3 years?
Would you like Have the option Later?
Will you pay this or go without?
Did you choose to buy (at those prices) when you bought the car? (I didn't have this option). I replied "I have a 3 year trial" or something like that. This was never an option or discussed at time of purchase.

Things not asked:
Nothing about the current functionality etc.
Feedback for different pricing (I used the comments)

thanks - that appears to be to get feedback on the MY23.5 pricing structure for new car purchasers. i'm with you on the pushback. ?

it will be very interesting to see what renewal options are going forward since we have a lot of members at or near that point now. the ones already at that point (like here) were seeing a 3 year renewal of $600. even at that point there was considerable balking.

Blue Cruise still isn't all that great. especially at exit ramp areas. The last thing Fraud should be doing is pricing out something that is barely functional.

$75/year is about all I’d consider and I’m not sure I’d even pay that. It cuts out way too often around DFW for road curves, toll gantries, on and off ramps, lane merged and splits, construction, fog, rain, sunrise, sunset, and poor lane markings. $10/mo I’d probably pay for a month one off if I was going on a road trip.

$10 a month for BC 1.2 (which has improved functionality and added features)??

That is less than the renewal fee for BC 1.0 at $600 for 3 years (which would be $16.66 per month).

disclaimer: i don't have my MME yet so i'm going by the discussion here and a few review videos (@Mach-E VLOG for one).

however, it appears BlueCruise 1.2 smooths out quite a few issues with 1.0.

with that said, the rollout to existing customers appears to be slow to non-existent. if ford doesn't step up the game with BlueCruise updates and rollout to existing customers (could extend that ALL updates for that matter) the renewal take rate is going to be very very low.

if they don't show a consistent track record of refining and updating the experience (similar to tesla) i surely wouldn't be renewing. i probably won't anyway unless they extend the BlueCruise mapped area to surround me - it is not even close now.

If you think the subscription model is going away by angrily answered surveys, I got a bridge to sell you.

Everything is going subscription and will continue to so long as they have developers and infrastructure that has to be paid for.

If you don't want to pay then don't, or continue needlessly raising your blood pressure for no good reason.

I received it today regarding my Lightning. The lifetime price was $7K instead of 5! That’s probably matches the ratio of vehicle values.

I politely answered “No, I won’t pay that.”

If you do want to pay, then pay, or continue needlessly raising your blood pressure for no good reason responding to the frustrations of others.

(Sorry, don’t mean to be snarky, but just trying to explain how comments like yours cut both ways.)

Oh, and I’m officially on team NO in response to these proposals. Asking for thousands of dollars just to swap an eye nanny for a hand nanny? (Oh, I know there’s also “automatic lane changes” which are not automatic.)

If Ford plans to roll out something akin to Full Self Driving (ADAS Level 2.5) then we can talk. But Ford is not even close.
