What does peessing that buttton initiate? Does it tell the car to wake up and look for PaaK? Does it put the alarm on alert? Does it ring the doorbell of some Ferrari executive?

The variability in the amount of time the car takes to respond to my approach and button pushes has me curious, because it seems to me there is no response attributable to pushing the button pushing the button before it lights up.

PAAK/2021/Job1: it seems to take one press to wake up and another 1-2 seconds later the button lights up and a second press opens it.
If I try the rear door first, it's nothing on the first and each subsequent press until I press the driver's door then both open.

After I pee, I push the button to flush the toilet. I don't know about you, but I was taught to do it that way from a young age.

For a techie to push the button and not say "I only use toilets with autoflush" is startling....

I agree. Even without Paak, the first press does nothing. I treat it like an elevator button, pressing it as many times as necessary for the stupid door to open. You simply can't run up to the car, jump in and go. It has to admit you first.

It would make a great plot addition to a horror movie.

You know how cell phones never work when a killer is after you?

Same goes for the button on the door! “Why won’t you open?!?!?” “Aaaaah, I’m dead!”

To answer the original question- it always works first try with the fob.

With PAAK, seems to take 3-4 presses. However that’s when I don’t have the FordPass app open. My guess is the first press sends out a signal to which your phone responds and connects via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi (I can’t remember which the car uses for PAAK).

My guess is the issue is actually with the phone sending a signal, not the car receiving one since the fob always works.

Try having the FordPass app open?

Pretty sure it rings a bell at Ford HQ where an overworked simian wakes up, mashes the unlock button, collects his banana, and goes back to sleep.

I'm not complaining about it not working all the time, to be clear. I'm just curious if pushing the button sets off some process, other than opening the door. Which it doesn't always do.

Usually, the mirrors unfold and the door unlatches. Sometimes I have to press the button a second time to get the door to unlatch. I don't use PAAK.

Get to car, car recognizes fob, button lights up, then I press it and it opens first press.
Never had to press it to wake it up then press again.
