Curious what the potential of the GT/GTPE is without being nerf'd. Could it do high 11's? I think that's what it needs to be competitive, which is IIRC just better than the Model Y.

Yeah, can't wait for that update. It should coincide with OTA APIM CPU upgrade. Not sure if we'll get the OTA CPU or RAM upgrade first. Everyone should download more RAM, helps out a lot.
I heard they just licensed Connectix Ram Doubler. Going to be amazing!

High 11s with no nerf is definitely possible. Especially if we got the full 562 hp the motors are capable of.

It’s kinda crazy when we are talking about a performance crossover that runs low 12s……. And that’s too “slow.” ?

We are more than competitive in the 1/8th mile, we just need to be able to finish the race.

Yes, on a job 1 in FordPass.

*In beta
The obvious question is: why does this have to be “beta tested”? I’d still like to know what’s different about the Job 1 vehicles that they have to beta test a back-end change. Something seems weird here.

It wasn't beta FOR that, it was in a beta FordPass release

I definitely think they can take 5-10 minutes out of the charge curve and things will still be okay. The main limitation while DC charging is the size of the input cables, 100 kW is about the max continuous charge rate.

I'd also like to see an intelligent charge algorithm based on ambient temperature. When it's cold outside, the car should charge faster than when it's hot, since cold cables can carry more current (assuming the battery starts at the correct temp).
iirc, the MME gets around 210-215A continuously for the “plateau” portion of the charge curve after 20 minutes. If we instead got something like 275A continuous, that would shave about 5-8 minutes off the 10-80% time.

Here’s a nice graph from @louc757 on his GT:

Thrilled about this! Can’t wait to see what exactly is entailed here. If this comes to fruition, it addresses my only major complaint about the car. I’ll forgive a lot of small things (glitches) if this one major issue about the GTPE is improved.

The Model Y Perf can run 11.7-12.0 right now at 112-114mph. The Y dual motor LR runs 12.7-12.9@110-111 stock and 12.3-12.6@112-114 with the $3K acceleration “boost” OTA. But, they also go 135-155mph on top end dependent on model trim. No big deal here in the U.S. for 99.999% of us. ?

*If* the GT gets 8-10 secs of full power it’s a 12.0-12.2 1/4 mile vehicle, trap speeds easily at 108-110mph, depending. If they let it eat for 12-15 secs you’ll see the full potential of 11.7-11.9@ 113-115mph trap speeds.

Bet: Ford only allows the full Monty in Unbridled mode. ??‍♂

My question is still valid - what is different about the Job 1 vehicles that prevents them from making the back end change with any version of FordPass. We know that the current version of FordPass works with Job 2 and beyond vehicles, so clearly, there isn’t an inherent issue with FordPass. Additionally, when the Mustang Mach E was first released, there were a few sporadic reports of people seeing the frunk release in FordPass, the. It vanished. And I believe some of these were before job 2 came out.

Purely a management decision, nothing technical

So, rolling all the way back, I’m pretty sure Darren Palmer is some high-ranking ford mucky-muck. I’d love to hear his explanation why they’ve taken that decision.
