personally, I don't give a shit about faster charging.
Much rather have faster DRIVING
That’s great to hear that you value speed because the GT/PE gets left in the dust at the charging station by so many competitors. The GT’s low range and slow charging means it takes us longer to travel shorter distances, even compared to other 400v cars.

You guys are going to get an extra few seconds of boost and then need new HVBJB’s , good luck?
As opposed to keeping the 5 sec limitation, then having to replace the HVBJB. I will take the extra few seconds.

Ford was focus-grouping a performance package that we could purchase. I eluded to it here:

I'll just say that Ford is considering increasing the performance of current GT/GTPE vehicles at a cost. What that entails, and if it includes more than 5 seconds ... to be continued at a later date.
I don't know what they eventually decided to do, if they've even decided, but don't be surprised if this is a paid performance upgrade.

Imagine $2000 to cover the increased warranty risk. Fascinating.

He’s definitely NOT a reliable source. Where’s the frunk release we’ve been repeatedly promised ?
Ford was waiting to bundle it with this new performance promise, which unfortunately took them a few years longer to slip into a YouTube interview than was earlier planned.

All of the '21 Job 1 GTPE vehicles will get their electronic (and in FordPass!) frunk release plus 5.2 seconds of high performance power in the same update event.

It'll be a Pretember to remember.

Yeah I was in that. I told them there was no way I'd consider paying for it unless it came with an extended HVBJB warranty or an entirely new part lol.

The added torque number they threw out there was pretty interesting though.

Obviously everyone is different but I can almost count on one hand the amount of times I’ve DCFC my GTPE. So more power is more appealing to me, of course.

Aren’t the power and charging limitations both thermal restrictions on the same components? If they’re willing to loosen the restrictions on one, I don’t see why they can’t do the same on the other. Even if they just let the car charge at 100-120 kW longer to shave off 5 min, I’d be happy.

I definitely think they can take 5-10 minutes out of the charge curve and things will still be okay. The main limitation while DC charging is the size of the input cables, 100 kW is about the max continuous charge rate.

I'd also like to see an intelligent charge algorithm based on ambient temperature. When it's cold outside, the car should charge faster than when it's hot, since cold cables can carry more current (assuming the battery starts at the correct temp).

Match a "competitor"...the 2023 Genesis GV70 Electrified. It claims 10 seconds when the "Boost' button is pushed. But I'll take 8 seconds since it probably takes some time to find and push that button. We only will have to stab that accelerator pedal, that saves some time! I know, they claim 3.8 seconds, and we do 3.5. But these days 0-60 isn't the best measure of a performance vehicle. Let's think Quarter Mile, not 0-60. Also, there are Model Y Performance units out there with no constraints. And this is a Mustang; we need to let those ICE versions know the future is happening!
