Why do we need a FordPass integration? Isn't it going to be a "plug and charge"?
And, while I'm here, what could be the price for the adapter?
Plug & Charge is part of FordPass. Well, technically it's part of your Ford account (Connected Services) for the Wallet and settings. But FordPass is one of the portals to your Ford account (website being the other).

You probably meant the activation method instead, which is different with P&C (automatic) than it is by clicking start in the app. But it's still a function of FordPass/Ford account and has to be integrated with that system.

Probably.

EvGO allows to plug and charge just by communicating with the car, getting the VIN (I assume) and matching it to the EvGO records and the stored credit card information and charge this card. I don't think that any integration with FordPass or any other Ford back systems is happening in the process, and frankly, I'd like to see this kind of integration from more charging providers, including Tesla.

I would speculate it will be around $250 which is the same price as Tesla sells their CCS Combo 1 adapter for, but who really knows. It would be nice though if ford offered some sort of discount on this for people that purchased cars earlier.

EvGo is using the Euro version of P&C, which bypasses the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). PKI uses digital certificates while EvGo uses your vehicle’s MAC id. EvGo is going to implement 15118-2/20 in 2024 per an EvGo engineer on the Out of Spec podcast from last week. They were testing it at the Testival a couple of weeks ago. The guy said that they’ll still offer Auto Charge + but they’ll do 15118-2/20 as well, which uses the PKI.

A third party already is testing an adapter they built using a Tesla. I forget which YouTube but the testing used a NACS to CCS, then a CCS to NACS. I'll update here if I find it.
So no, the adapter doesn't have to be built by Tesla.

Tesla has been busy removing bollards at Superchargers. Speculation is that between Cybertruck and non-Tesla EVs, Superchargers need the extra room to get as close to the charger as possible.

IF I have to buy an adapter, I'd like to use my Ford Pass points please.

Tesla is fine with anyone using the Tesla app. That's how the do it now with non Tesla vehicles who use the MagicDock superscharger stations.
Ford wants their customers to use the FordPass app. Apparently, lots of folks didn't want to use the Tesla app.
As for the cost of the adaptor, we are looking at $100 to $200 range.

Good to know, but I don't care what is happening inside the black box. All I know is that I can plug in and it will start charging, and the payment will be taken from my credit card of choice. I don't want to play with any app on my phone at that time. In the worst case, let me use my credit card on the spot the same way I use it at a gas station.

Is this the reason why when I use EVGo with Ford Charge Assist, select the charger, & plug in; I get charged at the highest rate (peak) all the time?

And if I choose to NOT use Charge Assist, just drive up and plug in without pressing anything and using the EVGo AutoCharge+, I get the lower rate ?

The question is whether you will have to use the Tesla app if you paid for the membership to get a discounted rate, since Ford can't do it with EA.

I would like Tesla or Ford to allow us to start to purchase the adapter from them now. Let me get the adapter so when it does open up I can us the supercharger network when traveling. I would hate to have to wait until February when it opens up to purchase the adapter and then have to wait for it to arrive 2 -4 weeks later because I am sure there will be a back order once the superchargers open up. Why not take my money now Tesla/Ford.

EvGo changed their rate structure a couple of months ago. You’d have to check their app or website to see how they calculate the usage fee at the charger you’re at. But the rate you’re charged at EvGo isn’t dependent upon which method you use to initiate the session.

When I use EvGo, I plug in without going into Charge Assist. The authorization happens and the session begins. But I setup Auto Charge + in the EvGo app, which is why I’m able to do that.

Charge Assist does not currently hold any information on outside memberships.

Yes, you should if you have an EVGo AutoCharge+ tied to that vehicle.

Or at least begin taking orders a month out from the anticipated opening.
