It's not a "Check Update" time. It's when the update will install. Once the files are downloaded the car will tell you about the scheduled update the next time you shut it off, regardless of when your automatic update time is.
And that's what I'm hoping for. But trying to get them to install in the middle of the night when the 12V battery is almost guaranteed to be below the required minimum SOC is not a great strategy IMO.

Neither is setting an automatic update for a time where it might not be convenient for it to happen. If you miss the message on the screen when you make a "quick" stop at the store on the way to work and come back to your car installing a 30 minute inhibit update you're gonna have a bad day.

So what is the keep someone from stealing your car when you’re leaving it on for hours with the key in it?

You could lock it while running and open it with phone or other key.

you don't have to leave the key in it to leave the MME 'on'. you just disable the auto-off timer, lock the car, and take your phone (or fob) with you.

the larger question is :
'why do you want every single little update' ?

personally, I have seen nothing in any recent update that I want, and plenty of bugs I'm glad I did not let in since I disabled auto-updates.

I figure all the updates we're getting now are the road to nowhere the BlueCruise update. And I've gotten caught in the feeling that that will be a good thing. FOMO!

exactly...
I allowed updates to handle the HVBJB warning software, and turned off updates after my HVBJB was physically replaced.

I never wanted BlueCruise, and would not use it even if I had it.

unless there is an update that enables user-customizable instrument display, or the ability to turn off 'driver alerts' and have them stay off, I am perfectly happy sticking with the version of powerup I have. (4.2.4)

Not wanting to use BlueCruise (hands-free) is your choice. No issue there. But because of software dependencies some modules functionality that you may care about will never get updated because you decided that you didn't need any more updates. These modules aren't siloed (for the most part), they are all intended to work together.

BlueCruise updates do include things like the IPC and IPMA and even powertrain updates that make the car function better overall...even if you never intend to use that one feature (hands-free BlueCruise). So shutting off updates will keep your car from getting better over time. Again, it's a choice, and it's obviously yours to make.

Many of us have not received 6.14. There must be a problem with it.
There was a big 6.14 push the week of May 20. Many users on this forum received it that week, including my car. No issues to report.

I don't think any '23s got it, and the push seems to have stopped.

Yep. Or the keypad on the door frame.

Not an issue for me as I just keep it in my garage. A nice advantage of an EV (running the car in the garage).
