Interesting. So looks like people that bought theirs used will be able to get an adapter but if a person keeps the adapter they reserved when they sell their car the next owner is SOL on getting a free one.
Seems like the buyer of a Ford BEV should ask for the adapter to be included. If not, the price of the vehicle should be appropriately less than one that includes an adapter.

I've only used my Tesla destination charger adapter one time at a hotel overnight. The hotel also had CCS L2 chargers but surprise-surprise, most of them were out of order. I doubt I'll use the Tesla adapter much either (as I charge at home 99% of the time), but I won't complain about having more options!

PSA: If you are buying a used MME/Lightning then check the VIN and demand the seller provide the adapter if they already claimed it. Otherwise, buy a different one. Everybody tells me there are five martian years worth of MMEs on lots.

Not really any different than someone selling used without turning over their mobile charger.

Kudos, Ford! I didn't expect complementary. I suspect that may not have been the original intent but the ambiguity in the wording of some of Farley's interviews might have made some people mad if not free.

Also, EV demand has hit a wall vs expectations, so this could help some.

Seems like it's just a negotiation thing, and depends on the price Ford will be charging for the adapter. Because they'll have to sell them anyway. Given the reduction in pins, I will put my guess in at $300 to $400. Sure, for the next few months, negotiating a few hundred bucks off your used purchase because you'll have to pay for the adapter. That's probably like a 1% reduction, depending on miles condition trim?

Ford is finally doing the right thing regarding the HVBJB issue, and is giving out hundreds of thousands of free Tesla SC adapters. Wow. Someone is listening to us!

I know some owners have had bad experiences and have soured on Ford, but this will definitely build brand loyalty. And maybe bring a few critics back.
Looks like all the dollars from the marketing spend they're cutting, like not doing a Super Bowl ad, are being put to good use!

Most of the negativity is around the term 'soon', which is warranted in my opinion.

How hard is it to not announce something until we have a release date?
Do you know that on Rivian forums the most used term is also "soon".

Definitely a negotation thing... not sure how you just "demand" someone gives you something. That's like saying the mobile charger HAS to be included with the car. No. I even traded in my first MME to the dealer and kept the mobile charger.

FORD TO OFFER COMPLIMENTARY TESLA SUPERCHARGER ADAPTER TO ELIGIBLE EV CUSTOMERS

JAN 31, 2024 | DEARBORN

Last year, Ford announced that its EV customers would gain access to Tesla Superchargers across the U.S. and Canada beginning in Spring 2024. As that moment approaches, Ford President and CEO Jim Farley said today that eligible Ford EV customers will soon be able to reserve a complimentary Fast Charging Adapter.

The claim is that we can reserve our adapter this spring. Spring ends June 20, the summer solstice. Also, the supercharger access is to happen in 2024. So, here's a plausible schedule:

June 19, 2024, start of reservations.
Sept 21, 2024, the last day of summer, orders taken for those with reservations.
December 31, 2024, first shipment reaches a customer.

I could be wrong!

You must have BC 1.4 to be eligible for free supercharger adapter. LOL

Or have speedometer in the middle of your screen. If the speedometer is on the right side of screen you are not eligible. LOL

Just a joke before everyone goes crazy.
