All,

I have noticed that when am in the car, driving, I do not receive a sound notifications when text messages come in.
Oddly, if I happen to be glancing at the screen, I see the notification on the screen, and can click on it for CarPlay to play the message.

Currently, I do use CarPlay. I've checked settings on my iOS (iPhone with the latest official Apple software) device, and in the car's system settings, and see nothing that would/wouldn't prevent the sound notifications for text/iMessages.

Any suggestions?

Mine depends on the ringer setting. If on, I get audible notification, otherwise, no.
Ah, the ringer on your mobile device?

I do have mine set to vibrate only, all the time. Not a fan of my device making sounds all too often, especially when am in the office...

You can turn on auto-announce of messages in CarPlay if you want that. Otherwise the only notification is the phone - and that will be silenced if you have the ringer off or use driving focus.

Yes….if the phone is set not to ring, you won’t get an audio notification in the car. You could turn the ringer on and drop the phone ringer volume to minimum and see if that works.

Is this a setting on the iPhone, or in the car?

Did this problem pop back up for anyone? I lost my text tones a few weeks ago and can’t get it to work again. Nothing is on silent and no focus on phone or CarPlay. Pop up notification displays just no sound.

Text tones (and other audio notifications) still working here. Anytime you have quirky issues with your phone, always a good idea to do a hard restart (not just turn the phone off, then on). Not sure what model iPhone you have but if it is within the last 5 years, quickly press (and let go) the volume up button, then the volume down button then press and hold the right side button UNTIL YOU SEE THE APPLE ICON APPEAR ON THE SCREEN which can take up to 15 seconds then let go of the button. I bet you will get your notification tones back.

Yeah I tried that, Hard reset brought back the banner but not the tone.

Actually, after the last update, I did notice that the other day and the other thing I noticed is when I have the Waze app up I’m not hearing railroad crossing or vehicle on side of the road. I need to check some settings I guess.

...with me still using my phone silent (vibrate only), I now keep the car screen on the radio/SiriusXM screen.

In doing so, anytime a new text message comes in, the screen flashes over to the Waze screen, then after a few seconds, back to the radio screen. I often see that switch. So, for now, that will suffice.

Alas, I do miss the sound notifications from my GT PP1...
