So after my weekend of updating modules (I ended doing HVAC, APIM, BCM, RFA but didn't get to IPMA, CMR, PSMC due to lack of time) I noticed that the incidence of the "wrong drive mode bug on start up" is higher in my car.

There were a few posts on this forum discussing this version of "Drive mode not available" where on startup the brake pedal will feel stiff. When you power on, the IPC boot up screen flashes Blue (Engaged) for a moment then switches to your actual drive mode color. This leaves the driver cluster in your drive mode but the APIM often in the Engaged mode. I used to get it sporadically (1 to 2 times a month). Post update it's now happened daily (and yesterday a few times).

So I traded new icons for new issues...
Yeah I've been living with this Drive Mode bug since I installed the APIM update that gave me Synch 1122  I get ENGAGE within at most 10 minutes of driving no matter what other Drive Mode I start on or switch to, over and over.

So, just want to verify how the license expiration works:

Let's say I buy a 2-day license on 4/1/24 at 8AM. The order page tells me it expires on 4/3/24. Is that at midnight (meaning I have 3 workdays of use), or is it 48 hours after purchase (4/3/24 at 8AM)?

From my experience with 72hr subscriptions to PTS I would say that it expires at midnight on whatever day they say it expires. I have an annual subscription to FDRS so I'm never in any danger of hitting deadlines there....

Wow, you're brave attempting temperamental updates the night before a road trip...
Yeah in hindsight, not the smartest lol. But went off without a hitch! That last APIM took forever to download, transfer to USB and then install. 6gig.

I actually fell asleep in my car at one point as I was too lazy to keep going back and forth into the house in the rain, making my dog home security alarm go off.

Checked this AM, and no more pending updates, and still don't have the
CMR one to fix my blue cruise lane assist. But maybe when I get back from my trip......

With your focus on FDRS updates you might want to invest in a reasonably small portable Solid State Drive (SSD) to substitute for the times a USB is called for. Any SSD will be much faster than any USB. These portable SSDs can be had for about $40 or so these days. FDRS will think it's connected to a USB.

A couple of years ago, I tried an SSD in a case with a USB-c cable. Couldn't get the car to recognize it though. Is there a trick to getting it formatted correctly?

Question for those of you who buy FDRS 48 hours at a time: how often do you buy a license and update?

I've been using the same inexpensive Samsung USB stick for 3 years. Last night I popped an APIM update on it and for a 6gig update I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly the Mach-E gobbled it down.

My first APIM update on the Mach-E.
I've done MANY on the trucks.

There was a delay on how long it took for Sync4 to acknowledge the USB stick had an update on it, but once it did, as I stated, it made quick work of it.

By the way, the truck updates never gave the open door and 10 minutes suggestion. Worked like a charm!

So am I caught up? Or is there one more that should be queuing up shortly?

I've seen several cars that aren't showing the newest APIM. Mostly 2021 and 2023s.

There is currently no way to resolve that but wait for Ford to figure it out on the back end.
