Hi Mike,
Wife is probably going to be replacing her ST Explorer with another one. I’m trying to work the numbers still on a Lightning, but was curious if you could please tell me what modules need doing on this new 2024 model. As always thank you for all the great work that you do!
Thanks so much,
Mark

@Mr9Toes

Yeah all they did was the powertrain updates on the 16th. Left everything else.

That GWM (gateway) update is the key to getting newer updates to show up and they didn't do that one.

When you talk to the service advisor and ask about the OTA history...and they say there isn't any (no updates for the last 60 days)...and yet you're still way behind on your Sync revision as an example....that's a reason to start diagnosis for not receiving OTAs...as a warranty repair concern.

Can you check my VIN again (3FMTK4SE9MME00550)? After I put my order in for the Tesla Adaptor in February I have gotten a couple of updates for the first time! I think I've only gotten like 3, maybe 4, but maybe they've put more than 1 in the updates that they sent? Just curious if I'm all caught up/up to date, or at least trending in the right direction to get there...
I have it scheduled to do updates every night in hopes that it will update frequently, not sure if that's the best way to do the update scheduling or not.

Thanks!

My VIN is 3FMTK3SU3NMA14645. The build date was 3/24/2022. Last OTA was August 23, 2023 for the 23-PU0110-RAD-PS. My car was in for service for the 23B50 recall and the 23S56 recall in the first week of April. When I ask my service tech if they could get me caught up on OTAs he stated the the refresh of the modules associated with these recalls should free them up. I have no updates to report since the service was completed. I have reviewed the procedures to be sure I am connected.

is there any action I should be taking at this time ?

Thanks.

Nothing has been sent to you in 8 months. After 4.2.4, you got a few PU updates nothing since. This is conducive with many other vehicles across several Ford platforms. Your VIN is not part on an active OTA rollout plan.

Other than getting a Mongoose, there is no action you can take. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to force mothership to queue an update up for you.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: The best investment I've made to fully enjoy my ownership experience has been that stupid cable. You'll need a 40amp power supply(not just battery charger), too.

Processing updates requires a 12V battery state of charge that's nominally over 80%.

If you have your updates scheduled to process in the middle of the night there's a better than average chance that your 12V battery SOC will be below that threshold. It would probably be more beneficial if you scheduled your updates to process right after your morning drive to work. Driving to work recharges your 12V battery...set the schedule to check about 15 minutes into your morning commute so the logic sees a charged battery and then downloaded updates will process when you park the car.

I have no idea why anybody thought 0100 in the morning was a good default time to schedule OTAs. That 35Ah battery being below the required threshold is the biggest reason people don't get updates. It can get bad enough that it takes a tech a full day to catch you back up.

Javier ( @rugedraw ) is right...I think that GWM and the powertrain updates would need to be done before you'd see some OTA action again.

I think I'm in the same boat as @Bill S , My VIN is below for a Looksee,

Last update: October , 2023
Successful Campaigns: 11 out of 11
Fell Out of Early Access, because I missed the T&C's email
VIN: 3FMTK4SXXNMA19809
Recall for HVBJB Completed: 4/5/24

I called ford, they first told me the dealer can unstick the OTA's, then the Dealer charged me $80.00 and said, "there are no OTA's available for your car", and all 11 updates were successful.

Called Ford, back, and they "Investigated" and said "there are no Campaigns pending your car", and that I should expect OTA's Soon, asked How Soon, Next Month to the End of the Year. :(

Anyone near Richmond, VA with a Mongoose?

Just

I am really just looking forward to the parking assist module which I am missing on my 23GT bought December. VIN: 3FMTK4SE1PMA62047

I have not received updates for a while and wonder if the 1am time is an issue.
I could be wrong but the park assist module is an actual chip that goes in your BCM module (passenger's footwell fuse box area).

I have not heard anything other than rumor that there was a retrofit kit available for this feature.

The "1 am" issue is an issue for every Mach-E out there really. Simple fact that your 12V battery, being the capacity that it is, will more than likely be below the minimum required SOC to process an update at that time of night.

Here's your list of available updates showing in FDRS right now:

Most of your successful OTAs look like the processed in the early afternoon/evening. I don't know if that's because you chose to "Update Now" or not. You've only gotten two updates that successfully processed at 1 am and they were really small (file size) updates.

I have a Mongoose loaner program I run out of the ICE truck forum. If you don't find anyone and want to get on the list to borrow one of mine, PM for details. It would be over a month before I can get to you, but I do not do it for profit. Every time I have posted the link to thread here, admin deletes it, so I'll make their job easier and stop posting it.

You just aren't getting OTAs. I suspect that if your powertrain modules are updated that things would once again start to flow. But I could be wrong. Also you do have a GWM in the list that needs to be updated...so.

Well, almost two years have passed. Would love to see another check-up on my VIN:
WF0TK3SU8MMA33352

Ford Norway eventually had to send up aFlying Doctor to get me unstuck from 1.6 (woohoo)
But I cant say it's moving any faster now.

Last time I checked, I'm at 3.5-something.
Still strugling with the fog issues that arose here in the North.

Does the car have any updates that can be done at the dealer?

Thanks
