I read in the users manual that for Lithium batteries its best to charge to 100%. I bought the car used from Carmax in looking up the VIN, I get this information:

Group NameElementValue
General Note Transmission Style: Direct Drive
General Base Price ($)
General Non-Land Use
Interior Entertainment System
Interior Steering Location Left-Hand Drive (LHD)
Interior / Seat Number of Seats 5
Interior / Seat Number of Seat Rows 2
Mechanical / Battery Other Battery Info Standard Range Battery, Rear Primary Drive Unit, Smaller Secondary Drive Unit
Mechanical / Battery Other Battery Info Lithium Ion Phosphate Traction Battery
Mechanical / Battery Battery Type Nickle-Cobalt-
Is the Lithium one the main battery and the nickle-cobalt-manganese the 12 volt? What do knowledgable people people think about the recommendation to charge to 100% routinely?

LFP and NCM are both Lithium Ion. What year is the car? Unless it’s a 2023.5, you have an NCM battery that Ford recommends limiting daily charging to 90%.

Open your driver side door and look down to the right, at the door jamb area. There is a label. It will have your date of manufacture.

Ahh 3/23. Also, I got a message that my 12 volt needed charging. I read the treatise on the 12 volt battery. My key fob stays close to car, so I put it in a RFID proof key fob holder, turned off fordpass, made sure welcome lighting is off, left the car on for 2 hrs, and drew a pentagram around the car. Ok Machlee does not recommend the last one. I really appreciate all the good advice!

LFP! Charge away! Just be aware that at 100% it uses brakes mainly to slow down instead of regen until you are down to about 95%. So for that reason I usually just charge to 95% then 100% every few weeks.
It is an NCM.

LFP batteries were introduced in standard range 2023’s built in the second half of the year. You say yours was built 3/23, so you have an NCM battery. Charge to 90% max regularly, with charge to 100% only when needed. The last part shows “battery type” and listed “Nickel-Colbalt-“ but chopped off the Manganese (NCM).

We are entering GOM Happy Season. Check back in 6 months for Sad GOM Season.
This past winter seemed especially bad for sad GOM season posts, but it was combined with the "my car has lost all it's value and is now only worth $12.25" posts, so that could skew perceptions

Great, 90% it is then. Is 80% even better for the battery or is there a point of diminishing returns? Even without the latest battery, I’ve never had a car that so much fun to drive!

Batteries are happiest around 50%, but based on past polls in the forum, seems like most of us charge between 80-90% on the regular. If 80% serves your needs, go with that.
