I think he’s just POed because the margins on charging weren’t enough for him, and he doesn’t see Tesla as an innovator in charging anymore so he’s no longer interested in the long haul.
I have no problem believing this is possibly at the root of it. He seems to be still trying to run it like a fast-moving tech company and ditch things that don't appear profitable in the short term.

i haven't been able to find any REQUIREMENT for 1000V in the NEVI standards and requirements document. @Mach-Lee do you have a citation or reference to support this?

the charging requirements (federal register published doc) i see are a minimum 150kW DCFC charging to be simultaneously available to each plug - higher levels are obviously permissible but power sharing is only available above 150kW per port. there isn't a 1000V specification, just power.

the v4 posts/dispensers are the only tesla option to comply with the point of sale option to provide a contactless payment option so i would expect those to be in the specs for any tesla NEVI award.
It mentions CCS compliant vehicles. CCS requires a minimum of 920V support.

How do you grow let alone do maintenance with zero people? Elon is Lying about slowing growth... If you are slowing growth, you might get rid of X percent of people... not 100%. A few vendors indicated that all their orders were cancelled overnight... you can't grow or maintain operations without parts.

The SC network has to grow proportionally with the number of EV's sold to avoid massive lines during peak demand. There are ~1.5M new EVs sold in the US every year and none of the CCS companies are growing in any meaningful way. Only Tesla SC was.
The people that will buy a car that is perceived to be trapped inside its home bubble of range, have already bought them. News stories of massive lines will dissuade a lot of EV buyers.

Why do you think Farley did the deal with Tesla?
I understand your alarm, but your argument is essentially a slippery slope. We don't know that any of this is going to happen. Shareholder revolt may lead Elon to say, "Just kidding!" Let's see what happens and react to that, instead of what might happen.

Ford too has its own CCS charging stations? Think it's called Blueoval.

My take away from this long thread is an affirmation of Tesla as leader in EV space and highlights how much others have not stepped up. Maybe this will be the catalyst. I'm such an optimist.

ah yes, CCS, that umbrella spec that can include anything someone would want and call it a requirement. generally, the spec provides a range of voltage levels and a range of amperage levels to support - both of which are negotiated in the connection management scheme.

we'll see if ANY awarding state agency actually disqualifies tesla on that basis; especially since they already have 13% or so of the awards so far and they don't have a 1000V solution.

That's not their own network, managed or maintained by them. It's just a collection of different charging networks that they partner with to show charging options in the app/navigation.
And a single point of payment (when thats not an issue with those networks that have a discount membership plan of some sort).

Add another one to the list, Tesla’s head of HR is leaving now too. Not cleared if she was fired or quit. The burn continues…
Speculating, but based on past behavior, I'm guessing this massive firing came as a total surprise to the HR person, who (if nothing/no-one else) should have had a heads-up about it.

Starts googling "off-center speedo", voice in head: "Don't google off-center speedo"...
Many years ago I broke my ice maker, specifically the plastic rake looking piece that directs the ice into the bucket after it’s done. The actual part name for that piece from GE: ICE STRIPPER.

Google had some interesting results before I found my part.

What DID happen is that the SC team is gone. Without them nothing will happen in terms of SC.

Yes, they're gone for now, perhaps forever. We'll see what the future holds.

No charging network is considered reliable except for the Tesla network and the people that made this happen are now on the market!
This could be the beginning of a major industry change that could benefit the electric vehicle adoption!
