OK. That was 5+ minutes spent reading this thread that I'll never get back.
It will be worth it if you use the information you learned to silence your car.

I don't want to silence my car. The beeping sound doesn't bother me at all. I was interested in the technical aspect and found that interesting, but then the thread devolved into arguing about whether this was something people should or should not do. I kept hoping it would get back to the technical stuff, but no such luck. :(

Yep, I liked the technical aspects of the thread too. Speaking of which, looking at the wiring diagram, I'm thinking if you were to use an "on/off volume" type potentiometer, like one would see on an old radio, then when in the "off"" (infinite resistance) position you'd have full volume from the beep and the electric beehive sound, rather than 2/3 volume or whatever the potentiometer OP used provides.

Or, you could put an appropriately sized toilet plunger over the grill of the speaker, attached to a motorized hinge, and get essentially the same functionality. With practice, you could maybe get it to sound like the teacher in a Charlie Brown holiday special. That'd be cool!

And yet, it is always turned down to zero. So the actual volume at full isn't relevant. Silence is awesome.

You could also change the input and play music through the pedestrian speaker
How? I also want to be able to speak to my Uber riders without having to roll windows down. Like "hey get out of your dang apartment, I've been waiting here for 10 minutes let's goooooooooo buddy."

You could program an Arduino sound board to work with a $2 radio transmitter receiver to connect to the garage door opening buttons to control a sound system to alter the propulsion sound...
I need to know how to do this! It sounds relatively easy. I don't know anything about cars but I can program like a MFer. So I feel like this would require the least amount of work for me, with the results I really want (replace the propulsion sound with something custom). Integration with the garage door buttons is icing on the cake.

Help me walk through that high level? You pair the buttons with the transceiver... ok. But then what? How do you get it to modify the propulsion sound or play through that speaker? Or would it have to be a different speaker? The programming I'm not too worried about - I could probably find what I need for that elsewhere. But if you've already done it, then anything you share would be helpful.

Your solution is a potentially elegant one which I may explore and even turn into a product if the stars align.

ICE cars also emit subsonic vibrations and even odors, most of which are missing from an EV.
I can just imagine a future where a law is made to add certain smells to be emitted from EVs. And then people asking for mods to make them smell like farts, or popcorn, or burnt hair, or bananas. It's a wondrous interesting future where I could potentially charge my Uber riders for different smells on their ride.

For my new GTPE I am doing a mod like OPs, but with an on/off switch instead of a volume control.
Please share the deets on this when you do/if you already did it.

You will need to do what I did and run wires from the pedestrian speaker into the passenger compartment. And then instead of a potentiometer, you can connect any audio source to the speaker.

I connected the speaker to an Amp and played music through it. I even added a powered subwoofer in the frunk for better bass.

It was hilarious. My wife hated it. I was just playing around anyway, so I took out the Amp and subwoofer and put in the potentiometer. I really just want silence.

Interesting discussion. Also being in Va. I'd be concerned it would fail the yearly inspection due to modifying original safety equipment. I don't know if there is an inspection requirement for anything other than the regular horn as a signaling sound. I also don't know if an inspector can fail a car using their own discretion of what violates "safety."

It's not on the list of safety checks done in VA. I just had my car inspected and there were no issues.

I did already do it and it's worked perfectly for about a year now. It's fairly easy to install, but it does require removing the frunk panels and bucket which is mostly just clips.

Here is the link to the kit with remote: https://www.megaohmmotorsports.com/product/f150-external-speaker-bypass-premium-rc-edition

Here is a link to the kit without a remote (always off): https://www.megaohmmotorsports.com/product/ford-psbk-ece

I've used both and both work perfect. I opted to get the remote version as there are rare times I want the pedestrian alert sound such as crowded parking lots, children running around, creeping behind oblivious pedestrians...

So, I purchased the standard bypass kit just earlier today. Thinking I may want to cancel.
But I have a lease. Aaaand I'm not so sure if it's ok to do either of these things. But. I drive a lot at night and don't want to bother people when I pick up riders in apartment complexes and such. Or when I come home or need to back up at ungodly hours. It's just SO loud.

Anyways, thanks for the link to the fob dealy. I did not see that one previously.

VA has always had yearly safety inspections. Up north in the crazy DC metro area, VA requires emissions inspections also. I get the safety inspection thing, but not emissions. Anyway, most auto places do the safety inspections and they cost $20.

Mostly to provide revenue to the inspection locations. When I lived there I had vehicles failed with half their brake pad life left, and also bulbs which didn't exist on the vehicle.

I mean I guess it's a good thing to make sure people are being safe out there, I just never heard of such a thing. You'd think we'd have that in Detroit, being the Motor City and all. Nah.

It’s about $25 in Hawaii. It’s strictly a safety inspection. Horn, headlights and high beams, turn signals, wipers, backup lights and for ev’s the low speed noise depending upon year built. It’s all on a checklist. They also record your mileage as we’re in the process of moving to a mileage and weight based registration fee system. That system will result in a fee decrease for most everyone, including EVs. I was involved in testing it for a year or so in my Tacoma.
