Looking to add a dash cam( Front and rear) to my GTPE. Since our cars have been out for a few years now, I am sure there are good aftermarket cams that do the job. Any advice is appreciated.

There are lots of them. If you prefer a nearly invisible front camera, FitcamX makes a decent one. The rear camera unfortunately looks tacked-on. There are others with cellular capability, battery back-ups for offline recording, etc. ??

I use BlackVue. It’s good enough. It has a battery backup, which lasts about a day. I don’t use cellular for privacy reasons and I turn off audio recording and GPS access.

just to say the obvious but the rear you'll need a bit of skill / guts if you want the wire to go into the headliner. the front is easier to do on your own (though some guts is always needed to remove trim haha)

I would use viofo a129 duo (Something like that) its the best dashcam for a budget. It has a front and rear camera, the front powers the rear (Just run the cable under the headliner). You can also buy a bluetooth remote for it so if anything happens you can hit the button to save the clip.

i just had another thought. has anyone just bought 2 "front" cameras and put one of them in the rear? just so you don't have to run a cable, that sounds so much easier... there's a power outlet in the rear right

Right! That's what I did, bought 2 Viofo A119 mini 2. There was a problem with the screen on one and had it replaced under warranty. I would recommend the VS1 since it doesn't have a screen.

I would recommend the Dongar adapter for the front camera since you won't have to wire it to the 12V or usb.

I followed the factory wiring paths through the cargo area side panel, the passenger side wiring gutter, then up the A-pillar to the front camera. ?‍♂?

I purchased Viofo VS1 and dongar adapter for front. It has a starvis 2 sensor, but a small form factor. Planning on installing it in the next week and post updates. If i like it, i'll install a second one in the back connected to the 12v outlet.

i didn't want to take apart any of the trim so i just ran the wire on the ground / door frame and used black tape to cover it, looks fine actually

but now that i had the "two front cameras" idea i should have just done that lol

I like the viofo, it has a capacitor instead of a lithium battery built in. I've found that dash cams with lithium batteries self destruct in the heat of a parked car. I've had my current Voifo for six years now with no problems.
