I have a MachE and Lightning, I presently use one charger and just top up each vehicle. Works fine for the non winter months. Here in Canada the winters are a bit too long and since it is a good idea to keep the batteries warm, I am looking to get a duo charger that can charge 2 vehicles at once and avoid another charger needing to be installed. The installation can be double the cost of the charger.
Any ones available besides the Gizzl-E charger. This one is 40 amps, I was hoping for 48.

Thanks

I have two JuiceBox 48s. DO NOT BUY THEM. They worked great until December 2023 when they forced everyone to a new app and website. Took hours and hours of phone calls to get back to maybe 80% of former features. Then, several weeks ago, when I was charging both at the same time (not often), breaker blew. They said, and this is an exact quote - "We also have to inform you that the load sharing feature is temporarily not available on the Enel X Way app. We are working on finding a solution as soon as possible, meanwhile please set the amperage on your JBs to half of their total to be able to use them at the same time."

This week I filed a complaint with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, since blowing the breaker is not safe.

If I was buying chargers today for this purpose, I would buy 2 Tesla Universal Wall Connectors for $580 plus tax each. They come with a 5 year warranty. https://amzn.to/3yM1MPI

I have had the Grizzl-e duo for over 3-years now. Works great.

There are other EVSEs that can share the same circuit between multiple units, but it involves pairing them over WiFi, I think.

40A is plenty. If you plug in both at once, then each car gets 20A from the Grizzl-e duo.

Just to clarify Rick's post, the newer Tesla chargers will communicate with each other to avoid over-taxing the circuit.

Hi Rick, I presently have an Autel that has "load balancing" however, they need to be on their own circuits in order to load balance. They are on the same panel but seperate circuits. So this is import for me to confirm. can they be on the same circuit and load balance or seperate circuits going to the panel? Thanks buddy

I considered that in my search for replacements for the JuiceBoxes, but if I'm splitting it with a 131kWh Lightning, I want more than 40amps.

With the JuiceBoxes, the Lightning gets 2/3 of the power, the Mach-E gets 1/3, if both need power. 30amps and 18 amps. Then, when one is done, the other ramps up to the full setting for it (48 or 32).

It appears to me that the Grizzl-E Duo either splits it, or gives one everything. In my setup, the Lightning would charge 50% faster than this if both were charging.

Is your breaker a 60A for a 48A charger?

Overpriced as compared to the Tesla Universal Wall Connectors.

I use Tesla Wall Connectors with power sharing. They have been great! My recommendation is to buy the NACS version and get a J1772 adapter, which will come in handy on road trips.

I have a j1772 Tesla Wallconnector that's like 2 weeks old if you're interested.
The Tesla actually has a chaining connector inside. So your one set of wires in has another connection for those wires out to the other box. They wil only talk between themselves though so a Tesla and something else wont share.

Correct. It only does 50/50 or 100/0.
We actually don't even have a 2nd EV yet. I had planned to buy the 3-row Ford SUV when it debuted in 2025/2026, but now that platform has been canned so not sure what we're gonna do. Picked up an ICE Aviator and will wait it out for a few years I guess.

. I purchased and installed a juice box 40. It has been charging my car since December and I have never had a single issue with the app or the charger itself. Is it possible you just have a bad update on your juice box?
Ask for the original question, to charge two vehicles at once on level two are you looking for 48 A on each or 48 A total 24 A per vehicle? It would say that a dual charger unless it’s hooked up to a heavy duty subpanel would still have a 60 amp breaker which gives you 50 A maximum draw or 48 A depending on how you look at it, And if you charge both vehicles at the same time at 48 A, you’re looking at 96 A, which is far exceeding the level two charger specs and most standard circuit breakers. Just the cost of 100 amp plus circuit breaker parentheses you probably need 120 A May exceed what’s your panel is in capable of supplying.
