From Ford:

Seeing a few posts from owners stating that their adapters were pushed from September to January. This should not be the case, and was an error in the back end of the system. If the reservation portal isn’t updated now, they will be tomorrow. Yes, they were pushed due to supply constraints, but not this far out. Supply is ramping.

So check your shipping estimates again. They should be fixed very soon.

My expected ship date is still January. If true, it will reflect an 11 month shipping schedule. I placed my order last February. While I love the Mach-E, there are a number of things Ford could have done better.

but, seeing as they've only sent out less than 20k apparently. I'm not sure even January is a reasonable expectation for delivery. I mean we had a batch shipped in June, and then several months until another batch shipped a couple weeks ago and not anymore shipped out since then apparently. BUT ford should stop promising a date that with the tesla in the equation will probably continue to shift out further.

Tesla, in this case, since per the deal to gain access for us the Supercharger network, Tesla was the official adapter supplier.

And they ran about 6 month behind for getting production ramped up.

My 101xxx is still October because clearly they decided to go last in first out now.

(sarcasm).

But hey people have even stated them selling the adapter for $200 would be better than giving you one for free.

So I guess people should just wander over and buy the third party ones and finally be happy.

such drama over an adapter a person can get right now for $170...
That's what "free" creates. None of the drama would have existed it they just charged for them like any normal accessory. Those that actually needed one would have just bought one (from Ford or 3rd party), and the supply wouldn't have gotten so far behind the lower demand. But "free" means everyone made sure to get in line whether they needed one or not.

It's the market distortion that "free" (or even highly subsidized) creates.

For Ford, it's a lesson in "no good deed goes unpunished".
