Google Maps EV Routing for Android Auto Now Available for Mustang Mach-E!

Thanks to this update, Google Maps will be able to share routing information like:

• Battery on-arrival estimate for all route stops
• Recommended charging stops
• Minimum recommended charge
• List of nearby amenities at charging stops

On top of that, we’re also delivering a few extra surprises with this update. Enroute pre-conditioning will be available when navigating to DC fast-chargers, and drivers will also be able to see available chargers and compatible Tesla Supercharger locations along their routes.

Thank you @Ford Motor Company @Ford of Canada for this awesome update!! I have been thoroughly enjoying the additional information and capabilities I have now through google maps in android auto. My driving experience has been so dynamic and effortless since receiving this update.

I noticed an update to Google Maps on my phone this morning but did not think anything of it. I did not see this post until right now. An article on Electrek clued me in. I'll have to try this out over lunch.

I use Waze via Android Auto 99% of the time so I would not have noticed the update during normal driving. Cool stuff.

It's not necessarily due to a specific Google Maps update on your phone. You'll need to have received 10.1.0 on your car to see these functions.

Earlier this year, we shared that Google Maps EV Routing for Android Auto users would soon roll out to F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E vehicles. As some of you have already experienced in your vehicles, we’re excited to officially share that it’s here and continues to roll out!

This feature is rolling out now to the Mustang Mach-E via an over-the-air software update, enabled through 10.1.0, letting Mach-E drivers who love using Google Maps through Android Auto enjoy more enhanced routing capabilities right from their Ford electric SUV. Simply connect your smart phone to your vehicle, activate Android Auto, then use Google Maps for navigation – and you’re ready to go! Just be sure you have the latest version of Google Maps installed on your smartphone.

I have a 2021, and turned off OTA long ago because I do not trust the stability/quality control of the @Ford Motor Company release process, and I have zero interest in BlueCruise. AA with routing info in googlemaps is the first enhancement that interests me enough to ask:

1. Is there a way to initiate a "batch service pack update" to skip all the releases between where I am today, and this 10.1.0 ?

2. Can I get this update if I have let my connected services subscription lapse?

Apple CarPlay soon ???

Apple has had the ability to provide preconditioning for quite some time. They have chosen not to do so. People might want to direct their questions regarding this feature to Apple.

Apple CarPlay soon ???

To set up electric vehicle (EV) routing in Apple Maps using CarPlay, follow these steps:

1. Make sure your iPhone is updated to iOS 15.4 or later.
2. Connect your iPhone to your EV via CarPlay.
3. Set a destination in Apple Maps on your iPhone.
4. Your EV should prompt you to set up EV routing using the Apple Maps app on your iPhone.

This feature considers factors like elevation changes and real-time charging station availability to add charging stations along your route as needed. It's currently available for select EV models and providers, including Ford Mustang Mach-E, Ford F-150 Lightning, and Porsche Taycan.

For other EV charging networks like ChargePoint, you can use their app on CarPlay to find a charging station, navigate to it, and start a charging session from your car’s infotainment screen.

Please note that Google Maps on CarPlay doesn't currently offer support for electric vehicle routing.

@Ford Motor Company Any timeline on when 2021 owners will see these 10.0.0 GWM, 10.1.0 APIM and 10.1.1 TCU updates? We have been left in the dark with so much as a “coming soon” for months now regarding updates. Meanwhile all other model years have been getting all the latest updates (not even to mention BlueCruise 1.3!). As it stands, the update mentioned here is currently available in FDRS (and now going OTA) for all other model years except 2021s. Why?

At the very least, an explanation on what is causing delays/issues for 2021s specifically compared to other model years would go a long way in retaining owner trust.

It works very well the only thing we don't currently have with Apple CarPlay is Battery Enroute pre-conditioning. Please add this feature and Apple users will be very happy!
BTW These features have been showcased during multiple Apple events over the past couple of years.

That is primarily an Apple issue. Apple apparently has privacy concerns.

Apple always has "privacy" concerns. Not surprising that Apple didn't have any privacy concerns for their maps that collects location data and data from the Mach E, but somehow Google Maps is a bigger privacy concern. I call BS on Apple. I feel like Apple maybe playing a EV routing exclusivity game on iOS when it comes to the Mach E.
