I actually misstated how I close the hood. I give it a good push downwards from a height of about 12-18” and it fully latches. Note I’m not slamming the hood. This works the majority of the time - the only times it doesn’t is if I was too gentle in pushing it or if there is too much in the frunk.
Makes more sense!

One thing I noted on the 2025 Mustang Mach-E I saw, was that the hood was much easier to close.
Jim, on the '24 models and up, Ford eliminated the hood bump stop. My '24 is also easier to close than my '21 was because of this. This is one of the 19 items I posted that had changed from my '21 to my '24.

The round bumpers are there to level the the corner of the hood to the fenders on each side. Yes I think they are also using those now to double as a hood stop where as before they weren't.

I play in a band and it’s handy to be able to fit a small guitar amp, fully stuffed backpack,, mic stand, and other various things, in the frunk of my 2023 Select. I wish Ford would give new buyers the ability to order a car without a heat pump and with a bigger frunk. Here in the SF Bay Area it doesn’t get that cold for that long.

Also having to fumble with my phone to open the frunk is a PITA! I’m glad they are now putting that release on the key FOB.

It would be nice if they never shrank it below the size of a large pizza box.

Not planning to get rid of my '23 any time soon anyway.

I'm still sad at the fact I didn't get the auto-parking and my CR-1's lack of powered passenger seat or powered trunk hatch.

For the price of the CR1 it definitely feels like they skimped out, especially compared to my wife's ID.4 which has ALL the power features and auto-park.

Today, I stopped by my Ford dealer for state inspection and, while there, asked if they had gotten any 2025 Mustang Mach Es in yet. They JUST received their first one - a Select. I asked if I could see the frunk.

As has been reported, the frunk is significantly smaller. The traditional frunk is between 14” and 15” from the bottom to the top lip of the tub. The new frunk is, perhaps 6” deep. It’s also not as wide or as long. You are no longer going to be able to fit 3-4 bags of groceries. Frankly, you will not fit any bags of groceries in the mini-frunk. If I upgrade my car (and they were pushing HARD for me to upgrade, on the spot, showing me the GTs they have coming in), the loss of the frunk will be a huge negative. To be honest, I’m not sure what value the mini-frunk offers. Maybe you can toss smelly workout clothes or sneakers in there? Not much else though.

Other very quick thoughts:
- The updated IP graphics are very nice. I didn’t see any significant graphics updates on the Sync screen.
- The new super-mega-multi-stalk (or whatever it’s called) will take getting used to. It has inner rings that twist and turn, the outer end twists and turns - I’m sure I’d be blinding people with the high beams every time I go to wash the windshield. By comparison, the gear selector lever looks barren. Maybe it has hidden abilities Ford will unlock later.
- The fob does indeed have a frunk button now! (Of course, that functionality is pretty useless!)
For those of us of a certain age, the Frunk is a novelty we’ll probably never use. I’ve used the one in my 2024 once, when I first got the car last summer, because I was excited about all the newness of an EV, and the frunk that an engine-less car makes possible. After that, I’ve never even opened the hood except to put in washer fluid. I’ve been driving cars for 55 years now that didn’t have underhood storage and so my mind hasn’t yet, and probably never will, wrap itself around the idea of it. That said, I’m also somehow disappointed that the 2025‘s heat pump (whose value is yet to be determined) stole so much space from it. The KIA EV6 came in second to the Mach-E last summer (for lots of reasons, the lack of frunk least among them) but maybe it’ll look better in the summer of 2027 when my lease is up.

I'm no expert, but I do think you're supposed to get some cooling efficiency from a heatpump as well tho...

Good thing I've only been driving for 52 years. I love my frunk.

My 2021 frunk is always full, I keep mobile charger and ext cord in there and also store my portable power station in there, so it is where ever I am ( which came in very handy when visiting friend in asheville during last year's hurricane) also could use to put a few miles on car if ever needed
