I find the opposite to be true. I live in the Reno area. I had a 2021, just got a 2025; had I placed a custom order, I would not have gotten the glass roof. I will say it's nice in winter when you do want the extra heat from the sun.I never found the need for a "cover".
Have had the car in +110 degree direct sunlight and never found much "heat" or too much sun from the glass roof. It's designed very well.
While IRR glass will reflect that spectrum the sunroof will still absorb energy and radiate it away in the form of heat, both externally and internally. A cloth shade isn’t going to significantly affect that.I live in Virginia, and on a 90° day, the roof glass will burn you if touched. I installed the Ford sun shield, but it’s perforated, not solid, so I’m having ceramic tint installed next week to cut down even more on the heat. Never been a fan of sun/moon roofs, and the panoramic aspect is totally lost on the driver and front seat passenger.
